The U.S. blockade of Iranian ports will continue, and the ceasefire with Iran will be extended, President Donald Trump said Tuesday, citing "serious fractures” within the Iranian regime.

“Based on the fact that the government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so, and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our attack on the country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump said in a post shared on Truth Social.

“I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded, one way or the other,” he added.

Me too!

I still remember one:

B: Hey Rocky what's this? A message in a bottle?
R: Fan mail from some flounder?
B: No, this is what I really call a message!

Also:

B: Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of a hat!
R: Again??
(Bullwinkle pulls a sabre-toothed tiger out of the hat)
B: Oops! Don't know my own strength!

I remember those from when I was five or six.

“What I don’t understand is why PDJT repeatedly sets firm deadlines with ominous consequences, then extends them.”

He also does the opposite: cutting an extension short because of bad faith on the other side, and bombing out of the blue.

He rewards good faith negotiations and punishes bad faith. It’s actually very consistent.

Here, the extension was granted because Iran is legitimately in disarray, and possibly in a coup situation.

“Do you think our military couldn’t take over the Strait of Hormuz at will?”

In 12 months of heavy, close quarters combat they could.

The IRGC trained Hamas and there’s STILL come of them dug in with weapons.

POTUS is unwilling to do what it takes to eradicate this threat.

“Do you think our military couldn’t take over the Strait of Hormuz at will?”

It’s an interesting challenge.

Iran attacks cargo vessels using its “mosquito fleet”. These are little more than inflatable speedboats with a machine gun and guys with RPGs or, at most, fixed, unguided, missiles.

They also have drones, which are slow, hard to spot, and hard to jam unless guided.

It would take a layered defense to deal with this, plus essentially pounding every cave and hidey hole along the entirety of the cost.

Snipers and machine gunners on cargo vessels.

Lots of slow aircraft in the air, suitable for taking on boats (A-10 and helicopters of various kinds — really anything you can hang a gun on would work).

Jamming of all GPS.

Etc.

The answer is “of course we can be in charge of the Strait of Hormuz”

And in fact, we are

The US Navy disagrees with you.
