Dodgers place Freddie Freeman on paternity list, activate Ryan Ward
SNIP
By going on the paternity list, he can miss up to three days to be with his family.
Freeman announced back in the spring that he and his wife, Chelsea, were awaiting their fourth child.

He was paid only $125,000 a year, though, so he would have been fine to take leave.
Freddie is one of the nicest guys in sports. And a true Christian man, one of several on the Dodgers.
Keep in mind that Freeman's last child, a boy, was diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome in 2024. So his wife can probably use all the support she can get.
One guy at my work has taken FOUR paternity leaves of 3 months each, over a period of 6-7 years. It’s ridiculous and a scam. Newborns sleep like 18 hours a day, he spends a few mins shaking his car keys to amuse the kid and then the rest of the time on a golf course. Meanwhile, everyone else has to pick up the slack.
How him about doing his job? Women gave birth without their husbands in the delivery room, for years. That’s only became a thing over the last 30-40 years. You don’t need to be in the delivery room to support your wife.
I agree. Pay should be based on performance.
It’s a business.
You just described everything that’s wrong with the game. The legal framework of major league sports has distorted the market. The league gives these players the economic value they have. There’s no economic value in throwing or hitting a ball without the league.
11) . him about doing his job? “
He is doing his job. The season has not yet started.

Stupid comment. Men have been going to the hospital with their wife for eons.
How the hell are people supposed to calculate WAR when Freeman is in every game?
Freddy’s replacement had two home runs last night. Wally Pipp anyone LOL. Dalton Rushing is the back up Catcher, I had no idea he could play 1st. base.
Interesting that Wally Pipp is a footnote to the start of Lou Gehrig career but he was a very good player in his own right. He just didn’t have Gehrgs power, but his early years were in the dead ball era. He actually was the home run leader in the AL in 1916 and 1917 with 12 and 9 dingers LOL. He had a .281 lifetime average and over 1,000 RBI’s
