After a little more than 100 days in office, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has a new catch phrase: "pothole politics."
The new rallying cry is not just about the 102,000 potholes the city has filled since Mamdani took office, but also is meant to suggest that socialists can solve small problems at the street level, not just advocate for big revolutionary ideological change.
So what do New Yorkers think of the approach? Some call it a smart strategy, while others view it as a distraction or a return to "broken windows" politics.

Pothead dumbassery...
holy crap
dude must be f’ing up everything else
if all he has is potholes for the win column
Exactly.
Maybe Socialism is only good to fill potholes, as long as Union wages are paid and other people’s money funds the entire cost of the job done by one or two guys with shovels as 8 others stand around and supervise drinking coffee, working up a good load for the 30 minute morning potty break.
Just this week I was cursing out loud at the violence the city’s streets are doing to my truck. The condition of the city’s streets has never been as bad as right now. There are spots now that cars and trucks can’t negotiate above five miles an hour.
My wife’s 91 year old uncle up in Maine told me he hit a pothole driving and swore he hit a Chinamen it was so deep.

Broken windows is PROVEN to work and worked in NYC from the 1990s to the early 2010s. Filling potholes likely affects 10% of his base, if that, as the rest don’t even bother with owning cars (completely different in nearly every other US city). But is BIG PROBLEM he faces, whether by design or not, is that he’s driving out the financial base of the city, and that will really start to piss off the Limousine Liberals.
Pothole filling is an annual event. It’s NYS for cripes sakes. The weather messes with our streets. Our town does it....every town does it.
This is truly a part of his job. The socialism stuff isn’t.

Distraction from “broken windows politics.
Indeed NY has murders and rapists 24-7 but by God we don’t have pot holes.
