For ages, legendary rulers and thinkers have remained trapped within museum glass and stone. We have gazed at frozen busts and fading oils for generations, struggling to glimpse the living souls hidden by myth. Traditional art honored their memory but masked their actual features, making them feel unreachable and remote. Today, that distance vanishes.

Times change. Equator AI is shattering the wall separating our era from the past. Using advanced machine learning, we peel back layers of paint to showcase these legends with stunning, lifelike cinematic clarity. In this video, we span the ages to introduce you to James K. Polk, the controversial King Elagabalus, and Marie de Guise. This is more than motion; it is a restoration of the authentic spirit of world-shapers. Step into the past and witness their true gaze.

Isn’t it the same thing movies supposedly did?

I'm surprised they picked Elagabalus. He was so despised by the Roman people they tried to erase his name from history .

Damnatio memoriae ("condemnation of memory") was the Roman practice of erasing disgraced officials and emperors from history, acting as a form of ancient cancel culture. This erasure involved destroying statues, chiseling names from public inscriptions, and forbidding the mention of their names, aiming to remove the person from public memory.

Somewhat unsatisfying. I’d like to see, Lincoln, Henry VIII, Napolean, Julius Caesar, Lord Admiral Nelson, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Al Capone, N.C. Wyeth, Johannes Vermeer and others.

And vivid verbal and written and drawn, or painted descriptions before that.
Since the AI technology is ubiquitous, but new , now everyone can present their particular (and often incorrect) version of somebody or something in glorious high resolution, 3d, and millions of colors.

Very impressive. And I’m curious to know what aspects of these videos are truly AI.

The description at youtube says: “How this was made. Altered or synthetic content. Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.”

As with traditional non-AI movies, were actual human actors chosen who resembled paintings and photos of historic figures? Then were they dressed in non-AI costumes, enhanced with non-AI makeup and hairpieces etc.?

Is it mainly the backgrounds, the settings, and sometimes the voices that are AI-generated or AI-enhanced?

Thanks.

Wow! Most of those were great! 99% of the time, these “figures from history” animations really, really suck.

Pretty good likenesses, some better than others. Good details. I enjoyed what sounded like accuracy of the many languages, including the Chinese emperor. They even got the crooked English teeth right on King Henry IV, as well as his speech in Norman French-influenced late Middle English. All the women, however, looked like they were giving a Power Point presentation—no liveliness, or animated facial expressions of their power.

I was disappointed in the blank countenance of Martha Washington, whose historic portrait was smiling modestly but sweetly. She was known for her compassion to soldiers, and also for her kitchen direction and for entertaining dinner guests nearly every evening at Mount Vernon. I’m sure she would have expressed herself with more warmth.

They got the warmth and humorous engagement right in their snippet of the great playwright William Shakespeare.

As with traditional non-AI movies, were actual human actors chosen who resembled paintings and photos of historic figures?

Two of the female queens resembled each other so much, I thought that they probably started with the same model. It probably was easier to start with actors speaking the words and then tweak, add or subtract with AI. None of them were great actors—more like advertising figures reading a script, except the Chinese emperor.

I think Shackleton was my Number One boyhood hero.
I’m still amazed by what he did.
