High School Senior Takes to the Sky for Elaborate 'Promposal'

Look in the sky! It's a bird. It's a plane. It's an invitation to this year's prom?

Prom season is here, which means students are coming up with creative ways to ask their dates to accompany them. The tradition has become known as a "promposal."

One such promposal was shared on social media by Mason City Schools in Mason, Ohio, after a senior made a grand gesture and reached sky-high with his request.

"Mia Fischette fly to prom with me!" the banner on a plane said as it flew above the MHS campus.

"I honestly I get really excited because I know he's going to do something great, even if it's a poster. Like, I would be happy with anything. But when I saw that in the sky, I was like oh my goodness," Mia Fischette said.

On Wednesday, what started as an ordinary day for these high school seniors turned into a moment straight out of a movie.

"It said, Mia Fischette fly to prom with me," Sam Bevan said.

The sign flew above the high school, catching the attention of everyone nearby.

"I had lacrosse practice and I was waiting and I was like, I got to go in soon. And he was like, just wait. I'm glad I did. Because then I saw the plane fly over the school. I was shocked. I had no idea that that was going to be how he asked me," Mia said.

Mia and Sam have been dating since their sophomore year and were always planning to attend prom together. However, Sam’s sky-high Promposal took months of planning and preparation.

Sam, who runs his own lawn care business, saved up for the gesture by working for Mason families.

"A big shout out to all the Mason families that hired me and I got to lay some mulch and mow some lawn. So, it really helped me save up for a big moment," Sam said.

Grand gestures are nothing new for Sam and Mia’s relationship.

"I always want to do something unique for prom and homecoming proposal," Sam said.

Last year, Sam asked Mia to prom by bringing baby goats to her house, and for homecoming, he surprised her with a donut truck.

"I'll never forget the moment when I saw the look on her face, when she first noticed that it was her name, you know, it was priceless," Sam said.

The male of the species often goes all out to visually impress, paralyze and overwhelm the female who has caught their eye.
Ask any Peacock, Red Cardinal or Sharp Tailed Grouse.
