Mamdani would love to turn this story into “Greedy Food Store Owners Try To Starve Millions Of Poor New Yorkers.”
Onward the Revolution!

When the Real Stores go out of business it will be Venezuela
>>There are already five grocery stores within two blocks of the proposed site on Park Avenue near East 115th Street — and 15 within five blocks
That hardly sounds like a “food desert” that they use as justification.
In the days of self respecting families of New York there would have been sudden problems with the new site: mysterious but effective setbacks, fires, detection of poison in water.
Are the grocers going to meekly accept going out of business to Commies?
30 million with it NOT being built for 3 years. Just think what they could NOT build in 5 years with 50 million!!!
Why would these 5 stores solve any problem in a state with millions....including millions on SNAP.
1,700,000 New Yorkers receive SNAP....AND....we feed every kid in school...and even when they’re on summer vacation.
INVEST in a rail line from NY to Las Vegas.
Food insecurity? how is that even possible in NYC?
There are numerous food banks throughout NYC (free food). There's SNAP. Restaurants of various prices are everywhere. Corner Delis.
There's food everywhere. Maybe if the the property taxes weren't so high, commercial rents would be lower as well as food prices.
