While parts of FISA were illegally and unfortunately used against me in the Democrats’ disgraceful Witch Hunt and Attack in the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA Hoax, and perhaps would be used against me in the future, I am willing to risk the giving up of my Rights and Privileges as a Citizen for our Great Military and Country! — @realDonaldTrump

I am begging anyone who has access to President Trump to please make him stop posting this kind of retarded sh!t.

This is EXACTLY why anyone with half a brain would think twice about trusting this guy.

Admittedly, that same statement has had me scratching my head wondering where it came from. The Donald I know would not say such a thing.

“I am willing to risk the giving up of my Rights and Privileges as a Citizen for our Great Military and Country!”
-Donald Trump

President Trump, here is some guidance for you:

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”
-Ben Franklin

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
-Sam Adams

President Trump Calls for a Clean FISA (702) Extension

April 14, 2026 | Sundance

My personal opinion on the FISA-702 reauthorization is well known {GO DEEP}.  However, I am not naïve enough to believe there is enough DC support to stop it. {GO DEEP} That said, I am disappointed the reauthorization will not be attached to the Save America Act as leverage.

[Via Truth Social] – “I am working very hard with our Great Speaker, Mike Johnson, along with Chairman Jim Jordan and Chairman Rick Crawford, to get a clean extension of FISA 702 through the House of Representatives this week. I am asking Republicans to UNIFY, and vote together on the test vote to bring a clean Bill to the floor. We need to stick together when this Bill comes before the House Rules Committee today to keep it CLEAN!

I was a victim of the worst and most illegal abuse of FISA in our Nation’s History, by Radical Left Lunatics, who lied to the FISA Court to spy on my 2016 Presidential Campaign in their attempt to RIG the Election in favor of Crooked Hillary Clinton. Their use of this instrument in the 2020 Presidential Election was even worse! When the Dirty Cop, James Comey, the failed Head of the FBI, went after me, he was using FISA Title I, the Domestic Collection, not FISA 702, the Foreign Collection, which needs to be extended today.

While parts of FISA were illegally and unfortunately used against me in the Democrats’ disgraceful Witch Hunt and Attack in the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA Hoax, and perhaps would be used against me in the future, I am willing to risk that as a Citizen in order to do what is right for our Country.”

“Our Military desperately needs FISA 702, and it is one of the reasons we have had such tremendous SUCCESS on the battlefield, both in Venezuela and Iran. Since the first day of my already Historic Second Term, my Administration has worked tirelessly to ensure these FISA Reforms are being aggressively executed at every level of the Executive Branch to keep Americans safe, while protecting our sacred Civil Liberties guaranteed by our Great Constitution. With the ongoing successful Military activities against the Terrorist Iranian Regime, it is more important than ever that we remain vigilant, PROTECT our Homeland, Troops, and Diplomats stationed abroad, and maintain our ability to quickly stop bad actors seeking to cause harm to our People and our Country.

The fact is, whether you like FISA or not, it is extremely important to our Military. I have spoken to many Generals about this, and they consider it VITAL. Not one said, even tacitly, that they can do without it — especially right now with our brilliant Military Operation in Iran. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

~President DONALD J. TRUMP

I have outlined this seemingly inevitable construct with great detail; the systems creating the surveillance state for several years; culminating in a December 2024 recap [SEE HERE] along with my position in January of 2025 [SEE HERE].  I do not like it, but I understand the arguments behind it.

I think there are "MAGA" people here on FR who simply don't care.

They don't care about his flip-flop on starting wars, and I don't think they will care about this.

This is the part of his statement on Truth Social:

‘“While parts of FISA were illegally and unfortunately used against me in the Democrats’ disgraceful Witch Hunt and Attack in the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA Hoax, and perhaps would be used against me in the future, I am willing to risk that as a Citizen in order to do what is right for our Country.”‘

There’s a clear difference between what was posted on X and Truth Social?

Look at Truth Social tight now. One crash out after another.Idiotic rants about ballrooms, Tucker Carlson, and Joe Kent getting remarried. It's like some bitchy old queen took over the account.

AC - your quote substitutes your own wording for his without showing you have done so. From the fuller quote listed on truth social the actual wording is:
“While parts of FISA were illegally and unfortunately used against me in the Democrats’ disgraceful Witch Hunt and Attack in the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA Hoax, and perhaps would be used against me in the future, I am willing to risk that as a Citizen in order to do what is right for our Country.”

to substitute more accurately, what he is saying is that he is “willing to risk [parts of FISA being illegally and unfortunately used against me] as a Citizen in order to do what is right for our Country.”

It sounds as though he means that as a citizen he (and we all) should be willing to risk having these “protections” abused in order to ensure that we win the war on terror or against whomever. Kind of like growing a victory garden.
I am inclined to believe that whomever includes the citizenry for some people. And I am not willing to simply believe every senator or congresscritter who has been escorted into a SCIF and come out a new convert on a clean FISA just because they say so. Burkett saying we can’t handle the truth on aliens comes to mind, but at least here he is not giving in yet.
It is far more likely they get shown what is known about them than that we can’t handle knowing the nature and extent of the threat against us.
I think we are in agreement about spying on Americans - but I think mashing around quotations makes actually convincing others of a position a little more difficult.
FRegards

Maybe he wants the Democrats to vote against it. If he’s for it, they’re automatically against it.

Yes

And most people don’t realize is that even the section that relates to foreigners gives latitude for US intelligence agencies to just vacuum up everything analyze it and the get a warrant if they want (by my understanding I could be mistaken) which is not ok in any way
