nti-liberty/gun cracktivists find themselves stuck on recycling old, failed narratives because there is really nothing new in the distortions and lies they tell in trying to obliterate the Second Amendment. Among those failed narratives is microstamping, a nonsensical measure about which I last wrote in Microstamping And Zombies, 2024 in June of 2024 at my home blog.

Microstamping is laser engraving a unique, identifying code on the tips of firing pins which will “stamp” that code—letters, numbers, etc—on the primers of fired cases. Some microstamping schemes also demand a second stamp elsewhere on a fired case.
California has always been a leader in unconstitutional, impractical, impossible and stupid anti-liberty/gun legislation, but as Tom Knighton at Bearing Arms notes, Illinois isn’t far behind:
Democrat officials in Illinois have long taken unabashed pride in the abridgement of Second Amendment rights, and their latest attempt at “bullet control” is again making headlines. While to many it may appear to be a new frontier for gun control, it is in fact a recycled gun control scheme that appears shiny and new among the onslaught of gun bans and hardware prohibitions in the states.
Illinois HB4414, the Ammo Registration Act, would require that “all handgun ammunition that is manufactured, imported into the State for sale or personal use, kept for sale, offered or exposed for sale, sold, given, lent, or possessed shall be serialized” by January 1, 2027. Additionally, the bill requires each round of ammunition to be tracked and included in a government registry maintained by the Illinois State Police. Of course, to accommodate and fund this onerous new system, a tax of up to five cents per round would be added to ammunition purchases.
But wouldn’t microstamping and serialization help catch criminals? No. In all my years in police

Plant someone else’s stamped spent cartridges at the scene of the crime and relax.
How would this effect gun ranges?

At no point in history has any government ever wanted its people to be defenseless for any good reason

To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory AND/OR Spoiler Alert Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
As soon as they force register people to vote, they can mark weapons with serial numbers. Serves the same purpose.

It wouldn’t. But it would be a boon for punishing the people whose guns were stolen.
What next? They going to outlaw brass catchers?
Clinton Admin grift. The loopy surgeon general, whatserface, wanted “safer guns and safer bullets,” along with other loopy sh!ts, condoms on Christmas trees, sex ed for teens similar to Driver’s Ed classes (nail your teacher?), etc.
That was Clinton’s surgeon general, Joycelyn Elders, now 92.
I remember Rush laughing about her “safer bullets” comment.
The only bigger dufus was Ketanji Brown Jackson, now on the Supreme Court, who didn’t know what the word “woman” meant.
As a tool and die business owner I smell a surge in diamond files, best buy some now before the inflated prices and registration of them begins also...

There comes a point where we stop complying.
For the record, I’m already passed that point.
And don’t forget all the folks waiting for the US to confiscate law abiding citizens weapons so they can start smuggling their guns across our border.
A firing pin can be lathed and hardened easily, so once again, only law abiding citizens will be penalized.
I reload my own ammunition. I also own metal files and a Dremel tool with grinder bit that could remove any firing pin stamp. This law assumes that “sheeple” will voluntarily comply with the violation of their second Amendment rights.
Where’s the NTSA guy?
OK, use a muzzle loader.
