GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Secret Service agent in training in South Georgia has been arrested on felony charges of eavesdropping at the nation’s premier federal law enforcement training academy in Glynn County.

ABC News confirmed that Joel Lara Canvasser secretly recorded his roommate’s every move with a spy camera hidden in a phone charger.

Canvasser had been spying on his roommate for weeks, and barraged him with text messages like he was being watched by a stalker who could see into his suite and bathroom, investigators said.

Canvasser was arrested on Wednesday and charged with unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance. He posted a bond of $8,458 and did not respond to messages for comment on this story, ABC News said.

Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn called the charges against Canvasser “deeply troubling.”

The Secret Service confirmed that this was an isolated incident between Canvasser and his roommate, who is also a Secret Service trainee.

Canvasser previously worked as an analyst with the presidential protection team.

“deeply troubling.”

Standard answer #5 from the government handbook.

Usually when something or someone in government is described as “deeply troubling”, the incident is buried and never reported on again.

If you have ever been to GLYNCO, you know the place is heavily protected and you have to have a background check just to attend a graduation ceremony. People who go through their law enforcement programs have their lives (and that of their family) investigated from date of birth through date of attendance. This guy should have set off red flags somewhere along the way. Maybe his middle name should have been a clue.

The fact that the story original comes from ABC news is probably more concerning butperhaps that will come poput at trial. Not sure how a trainee worked on a Trump detail though. But I dno know ABC is consummed with hatred for Trump, so this article is not expressing concern for Trump, but perhaps is putting a Trump supporter in bad light.

You never know from initial reports.

Gary Buechler of Nerdrotic.com would say it ANAL-ist.

He got caught.

Well, he was just a trainee.

He sounds like a Deep State trainee. Makes one wonder how many other Secret Service agents are working directly with Deep State handlers.

A friend of mine who retired from teaching at the Air Force Academy would tell you the following. This while a somewhat extreme example, such attitudes aren’t unusual in this “Alphabet” generation. Over the last maybe 10 years this type of amorality plus a willingness to be very “political” was common. He and some of his faculty colleagues wondered with this kind of material how could we ever have an apolitical officer corps. I am sure this problem is not confined to academy appointees but is common of across the generation.

The political mindset some Zoomies brought on active duty with them disappeared when they reached their first operations base or pilot training base because it meant nothing.

Those whose first assignments to places such as Bolling AFB or the Pentagon got smacked with reality when their second or third assignment was an operations base. There was no outlet for their political nonsense and no cheerleaders to join their crusades.

ROTC in particular helps keep the officer corps apolitical.
