A government filing shows that men of a certain age could be automatically registered for a military draft before this year ends.
While the U.S. has long utilized an all-volunteer force and a draft has not been in effect since the tail end of the Vietnam War in the 1970s, the option of conscription has been considered an option since the SSS registration was reinstated in 1980 by then-President Jimmy Carter.
White House Previously Said Draft 'On Table'
The proposed rule change was submitted a little over 30 days after the United States and Israel attacked Iran, as part of a conflict that remains ongoing yet is temporarily on hold due to an agreed upon two-week ceasefire that faced volatility on Wednesday.
In the early days of the war, and following the deaths of six U.S. soldiers in relation to the military operation, the Trump administration was asked about the prospect of incorporating a draft in addition to whether boots on the ground in the region was realistic.

I did not bother to register when it

My take having served in the Marine Corps, they offer nothing positive and are extremely disruptive.
The sand box wars had probably more women than Vietnam and prior. I wonder if in those sand box wars if women went to far out fire support bases and when attacked if they went to the perimeter to help defend the place?
I recall basic training in the Vietnam era was called “BCT”, which stood for Basic Combat Training. Upon completion we were told whatever our job was, we were still all infantryman and expected to fight. And we were taught basic combat skills.
I wonder if that holds true for women today? Are they expected to fight if cornered in a combat zone? If poorly trained or scared they would severely degrade defenses.
Women should also be in the draft since we are “playing” equality now.

Possibly, but the automatic draft registration was put in place under Jao Bai-din, not Trump. This is Uniparty, not Democrat or Republican.
People would be surprised at who sits on draft boards even now during "peacetime" and how much information they get access to.

President Trump was elected in November 2024 and assumed office in January 2025. May 2024 was under Jao Bai-din.
