Trump Iran threat sparks calls for his ouster, but one Dem says effort ‘not realistic’
Fox News ^ | 4/07/26 | Alex Miller

Dozens of congressional Democrats are demanding that Republicans remove President Donald Trump for his latest threat against Iran, but one lawmaker says the idea isn’t "realistic."

Several congressional Democrats want to invoke the 25th Amendment, a decades-old addition to the Constitution that empowers a president’s Cabinet to remove him from office if he is unable to do the job.

Some Democrats are arguing that Trump’s latest threat against Iran on Truth Social — where he declared that a "whole civilization will die tonight" unless his demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz are met — is proof that he has lost the ability to carry out his role as commander in chief.

But Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., doesn’t believe now is the moment to pull the trigger on the 25th Amendment.

"I’m getting a lot of traffic about the 25th Amendment after Trump’s mad rants," Whitehouse said on X. "The president is facing serious mental decline; I’m with you on that."

"But unfortunately, invoking the 25th is not realistic right now, given his oddball Cabinet of sycophants and eccentrics, and Republican ‘spines of foam,’" he continued. "We’re going to have to buckle down and win this the old-fashioned way."

Doing so would require Vice President JD Vance and a majority of Trump’s Cabinet to agree to remove him. They would then send a declaration to Congress, which Trump would likely dispute, requiring a two-thirds vote in both chambers to officially remove him from office.

It’s a much higher bar than impeachment and conviction — and a move that has never been used to remove a sitting president.

Yeah but this isnt going to go anywhere. I love President Trump but he has a tendency whenever he makes a threat, he never sticks with it..I want him to see it through and NO I dont mean obliterating Iran, I mean destroying their regime..every single last one of them. As long as they survive, as long as they control the strait nothing will EVER change

It’s just what they do, they cannot help themselves. It’s in their DNA.

Yep, as the old song by THE WHO states, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, we won’t get fooled again”.

Who is calling for his ouster of the best President America has ever had? The Third World Butt Boys at the U.N., NATO or the commie RAT Party of Death lead by King Skyhook Hakeem and his butt boy Chucky Shoeshiner.

I think Trump was wrong in what he posted. But it sure is not grounds for calling for his ouster.

I always love the posts that start with “I love President Trump BUT...”. You do understand how some negotiations go, right? You usually use something of leverage and in some cases you use the threat of something. You panicans drive me crazy.

Why didn’t Trump draw a line in the sand?

Not speaking to you, Libloather, but, to those who doubt Trump:

Trump is negotiating with a deadly opponent and he is threatening deadly force.

Give him an effing break. He knows how to do this and how to achieve the desired results.

The few mullahs who are still alive and in power and the IRGC are completely befuddled. And that is the goal.

Have a little faith. Has Trump let us down yet?

I know I know but the problem has always been that Trump barks really loud but then retreats. He should have gone ahead with it, Im not saying blow up Iran, NO of course not..but now basically Iran owns the Strait, they control it now..they can decide whenever they please when to open it and when to close it

Maybe they should read The War Powers Resolution of 1973. Might save them some time and us from hearing their manure. And they might, also, read the Constitution where it says the President is the commander in chief of the military. He doesn’t work for congress, he’s equal in that area with rules on how to operate.

Which problem? The Dems wanting his ouster?
They will ALWAYS want him gone.

The Straits of Hormuz? The Iranian Regime?
Give him time. He knows that Islaminazis only understand FORCE.

It will just take some convincing that he means BUSINESS.

And so did Tucker, and Alex Jones as I understand it. We truly live in times when you can’t trust anyone. Those who once seemed part of saving the country are now out to destroy it. Is someone putting something in their food?

There is attention, media amplification, and a fresh audience waiting to reward you for it. So the script flips. The tone shifts. The lectures begin. And the same people who once spoke with certainty now speak with superiority.”
