"The Gold Diggers' Song (We're in the Money)" is a song from the 1933 Warner Bros. Pictures film Gold Diggers of 1933, sung in the opening sequence by Ginger Rogers and chorus. Of special note is an extreme close-up of Rogers singing a verse in Pig Latin.
The lyrics were written by Al Dubin and the music by Harry Warren. It became a standard with a well-known melody. It is one of the songs of the Broadway musical 42nd Street.

yeah this is a great time to hear this song. (crickets)
Hmmm...
Ginger was singing and dancing to this song in the same year I was born...
I was introduced to this song by Daffy Duck.
One of my favorite movies.
Great Depression era movie.
FAMOUS QUOTE:
“GINGER ROGERS DID EVERYTHING FRED ASTAIRE DID:
AND SHE DID IT BACKWARDS & IN HIGH HEELS.”
I only remember her from Gilligan’s Island
Thanks for this.
Rogers was born in 1911. That’s a spry 22-year-old doing that number. The story goes Rogers was into Pig Latin at the time and was doing the song while goofing around on the set. Someone thought this would be fun to insert into the film but, given the Depression, she was probably told she would only get one take to pull it off.
