This NATO war game went horribly wrong. Ukraine’s drone warfare exposed NATO weaknesses during a major Estonia war game, and the results were brutal. In this video, I break down how just 10 Ukrainian operators simulated the destruction of two NATO battalions, and what that reveals about outdated doctrine and the future of warfare.
In May of 2025, NATO ran a major "military exercise" called Hedgehog in Estonia, involving over 16,000 troops from 12 NATO countries. This "wargame" highlighted the critical role of a Ukrainian-Estonian OPFOR unit, leveraging advanced "drones" and the expertise of "Ukraine soldiers" to simulate a mechanized offensive. The "military simulation" demonstrated crucial lessons for the "NATO eastern flank" in a realistic "joint training" scenario.

On March 27th, an Iranian ballistic missile struck Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. About a dozen Americans were injured. Multiple aircraft were damaged, including something we don’t have a lot of: An E-3 Sentry AWACS.
The U.S. Air Force already has a doctrine designed to solve this.
It’s called Agile Combat Employment (ACE). Disperse your aircraft. Move them frequently. Make targeting harder. So… why weren’t we doing that?
Because we are stupid and trust everybody. There are enemies inside the walls at every foreign base (some here at home as well) we utilize. They all have enemy sympathizers and spies inside the wire. One cell phone call/text and drones or rockets are inbound.
The US may have started the era of drone warfare (Reaper Drones, etc.) but we are FAR behind and have virtually no defense. A cheap drone can penetrate US air defense and do millions in damage. Big brains at the Pentagram really screwed the pooch on this one.
One thing we’re going to see. Missile launchers can be dispersed and hidden and difficult to find, but they are findable and destroyable if you have complete air superiority.
Drones are small and cheap and can be launched from anywhere. They can make armor obsolete. They can hunt infantry day or night. They make it difficult to accumulate forces for an attack unobserved. And the technology and techniques are evolving quickly day by day.
And, I might add, they can make your navy obsolete.
“In May of 2025, NATO ran a major “military exercise” called Hedgehog in Estonia...”
I think it was that exercise where we complained it was ‘unfair’ for the other side to use drones, as we were helpless against them.
I guess we can ask the same of Iran, and Russia if necessary (if we get into direct combat with them)?
In 20p4 Donald Bellisario showed weakness on NCIS
War is always about measures, counter measures, counter countermeasures…..
Sword/Spear/ arrow/ cannon/Horse/machine gun/battleship/ aircraft carrier/ tank/ anti tank/ AD/ drones/ counter drones…..
Sadly as humans we have not really evolved just our ability to kill has

And it goes downhill from there.
Notice the clamor for cheap $5k Ukrainian Sting anti-drone systems.
And,”The chief executive of Rheinmetall, Europe’s highest-valued defense company, continues to face criticism after dismissing Ukraine’s drone industry as the work of “housewives” with “3D printers in their kitchens” − comments his own company quickly walked back. Now, German media report the Bundeswehr’s flagship Rheinmetall counter-drone system is running at least 16 months behind schedule, adding further troubles for the defense giant.”

And selling geofenced systems has stopped selling...
How did we turn into everybody's fabulously wealthy but senile grandpa?
Large companies moving quickly in the western EU is a complete non-starter... :-(
You’d likely do better from scratch in Poland, maybe?
Certainly when lacking lasers and auto-tracking and coordinated flak.
Not yet, anyway. The Iranians tried very hard to hit the USS Lincoln. They utterly failed.
OTOH, they DID hit some of our bases pretty hard. :-(
