The 'Constitution State' Moves to Ban Glock-Style Pistols

Connecticut already has some of the toughest gun restrictions in the country, and a new bill advancing in the state legislature targets Glocks and Glock clones.

Backed by Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D), state House Bill 5043 advances a ban on popular handguns that have been on the market for over 40 years and are commonly used for lawful self-defense. The measure, advanced last week in a partisan vote of the House Judiciary Committee, ambiguously bans the future manufacture, sale, and importation into the state of "convertible pistols" defined as "any semiautomatic pistol with a cruciform trigger bar" that could potentially be adapted to fire full auto through the use of a switch or insert.

The cruciform trigger bar is a hallmark of Glock's design and is emulated by similar pistols marketed by Shadow Systems and others.

Those found in violation could face a Class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and fines up to $5,000.

Not mentioned in the article is that fact that the Connecticut State Police carry the Glock 45 (9mm), as their primary duty weapon. The CSP is also tasked with providing security to both Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont (D), and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz (D).

Consequently, the elected executive elitists in charge of Connecticut, are protected by the very Glock pistols that their Legislators want to ban for the great mass of unwashed plebes.

If I was running Glock I'd tell the State of Connecticut to pound sand and no longer sell or provide maintenance support for any Glock pistols currently in use by police departments in the state. If Connecticut government is going to criminalize ownership of Glocks, maybe their LE departments can start carrying SIGs like the P320 that has a history of going off by itself while still in the holster.

In Virginia they just banned a ton of stuff but they exempted members in the legislature from needing to follow it!

Some are more equal than others.

Blatantly unconstitutional and will be struck down. Glocks are in common use for lawful purposes all over the country.

I agree. For now. The next time Demon-rats take control of the government they will pack the supreme court, and then we are disarmed and made vassels of the communist state.

Not relevant. The G45 is Gen6 and Gen6 doesn't have the cruciform trigger bar.

Not relevant.

Wrong, it's totally relevant. The vast majority of Glocks owned by private citizens are Glock Gens 3 thru 5. I don't care if the Gen6 uses a cruciform trigger bar or uses a rubber band to make it fire.

The bottom line is this is just another scheme to disarm citizens of Connecticut in the name of "public safety."

The Supremes already ruled that you cannot ban the most popular guns. This is doomed to fail.

The way to visualize New England is as follows:
  1. Vermont is the mouth.
  2. Massachusetts is the colon.
  3. Connecticut is the rectum.

The Supremes already ruled that you cannot ban the most popular guns. This is doomed to fail.

It succeeds by forcing opponents to spend millions of dollars in legal fees and years of time to oppose this ban.

And there will be a small number of citizens who actually get arrested and even convicted under this law. A conviction does not really matter anyway as "the process is the punishment".

Som the law gets overturned after several rounds of appeals through layers of State and Federal courts. And then the Democrats reword the law just slightly and pass it again.

There needs to be sanctions against legislators who pass such "laws" and the judges who keep ruling in favor of them.

They know that. The idea is to make us have to sue.

If the colonists at Bidwell's Tavern (the place where the colonists screwed the English by taking the Colony's Constitution and hide it in the Charter Oak) knew Connecticut would be a screwed up state, they would not have hid it.

Unfortunately, the cities are the blue area.... Connecticut is purple...

When I lived in Miami back in the 70’s there was a locally popular gun that was easily converted to automatic. It was an ugly little boxy looking thing. They could be found in pawn shops..etc. If I remember correctly all that needed to be done was to file a bit of metal off of a part of it and that was it.

They looked really cheaply made..

So sitting home and not voting in November means the Democrats will take my guns away. But I will FEEL GOOD about it, because I taught my RINO a lesson!

Sound about right, Purists?

(by the way, that RINO likely has ‘made’ enough money in politics to have private, armed, security)
