Do you understand what happened in the last 72 hours..

> Egypt shut down its shops at 9pm, mandated work-from-home Sundays, and the government internally called it "war economy mode".. four days after the IMF praised them and unlocked $2,300,000,000..

> Turkey's central bank burned through $30,000,000,000 in March defending the lira.. the finance minister everyone called a genius is now considering SELLING the national gold reserves..

> Pakistan's PM went on national TV on Eid and announced government salary cuts and a 50% fuel allocation reduction.. they approved a $358,000,000 "austerity fund" and nobody asked austerity from what..

> Russia banned cash exports above $100,000 and gold bars above 100 grams.. Putin signed it March 26.. called it fighting the shadow economy..

> Iraq banned 22 banks from USD transactions.. cashless mandate for ALL government institutions coming July 2026..

> South Korea launched a literal wartime economic response body on March 25.. the prime minister chairs it..

> India secretly created a $6,700,000,000 Economic Stabilisation Fund.. it wasn't in the news.. it was buried in a budget supplement..

> Lebanon's currency collapsed 98%.. the war added $14,000,000,000 in damage on top..

every single government on this list told their citizens "the economy is doing fine" within the last 30 days..

all of this.. a single week..

if you're not following me you're finding out about this 48 hours late from someone who read my post..

it's only getting crazier from here..

ransomnote: Grok's verification of this information:

  • The post compiles verified emergency economic measures across eight countries in the last 72 hours, from Turkey's $30 billion reserve burn to Russia's March 26 capital export bans, all tied to oil shocks from the escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict that has spiked Brent crude above $120/barrel.
  • While governments publicly assured stability—e.g., India's finance minister calling growth "robust" on March 20—these hidden actions, like Pakistan's Eid-announced salary cuts and Iraq's USD banking restrictions, expose vulnerabilities in energy-importing nations, with Lebanon's 98% currency devaluation amplified by $14 billion in war damages.
  • Stock markets reflect the strain unevenly: Israel's TA-35 dipped just 4.5% since the conflict intensified, versus 13.5% for South Korea's KOSPI, underscoring how proximity to chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz amplifies risks for Asia and Europe over North America.

Not my field, but as I understand it, the current global difficulties are bad for almost everyone — except the United States. We have the dollar. We have the oil. We have political stability. Which all means that we have economic stability. If there is a storm, we are the island.

Screw that. Can they do anything a about the RAMpocalypse that is also jacking up NVMe prices, hard drive prices too. Crucial, Hynix, Samsung are creating this shortage along with AI datacenters buying up all 2026 production in advance.

These parts an AI chips are being warehoused, as building datacenters lags in USA. By the time that AI farms gets built, the AI chips will be obsolete.

What the post means:

In just the last 72 hours (about three days), several countries took sudden, serious steps to control their money and resources because of big economic pressure. This pressure mostly comes from the ongoing war involving the US, Israel, and Iran, which has made oil prices shoot up very high. Higher oil costs hurt countries that import a lot of energy. Here is what each country did, and how it contrasts with what their leaders said recently:The main point of the post:
Every one of these governments told their people “the economy is doing fine” in the last 30 days. But in a single week, they all started emergency actions like cutting spending, restricting money movement, saving fuel, or using secret funds. The poster is saying this shows real hidden stress from the oil shock and war — and that things could get even tougher soon. If you’re not paying close attention, you might miss how fast the situation is changing.

It’s a warning that official “everything is okay” messages don’t always match the real emergency steps governments are now taking.

It means that if it’s on the internet, it must be true. We’re all going to be impoverished and need to start scavenging in trash bins. /sarc

The only thing I would dispute is American political stability. Trump is doing the right thing in regards to Iran, but at the risk of not being able to complete what he started due to the reality of energy prices and the shadow of the mid term elections .

36 hours ... $9000.
I know, lets fluff some influencers blog and help him earn some clicks and advert money.
That should close the gap.

Sure. America is doing great. And approaching $40 trillion in debt. And no politicians ever talk about reductions in spending or (gasp!) actually having a budget that is adhered to.

In the past 72 hours?

What about the past 144? Or 288?

What about a year ago? 4 years ago?

Countries take actions all the time.

This post needs some context as to what is normal or not.

Dollar is not stable. Not even close with near 40 trillion in debt.

They claim we have oil yet it keeps going up and up as if we did have the oil should be stable or going down in price.

Political stability....Our Political system is so screwed up reminds me of just before the American Civil War and so it is extremely unstable and hopelessly broken....

More wishful thinking from some folks..

I’m in Tallahassee, Florida. Every time there’s a hurricane some idiot in the state government sends out an emergency email telling all employees to fill their gas tanks. The entire county and parts of surrounding counties go completely dry as there’s more rolling tankage than there is in-ground storage. That’s what happens when someone in government says anything other than, “Hey, there’s nothing to see here.” When this happens in Leon County, where Tallahassee festers, you can’t buy gas for weeks. Sometimes a month. I understand why governments don’t give people warnings. Because people wildly overreact.

I think that wishful thinking is gonna bite a lot of people int he ass—especially those on fixed incomes and in need of expensive pharmaceuticals and medical care to function survive

There has been a lot of talk about needing to get this war done now —well there needs to be a lot of talk about getting the debt under control and ripping that band aid off so our children and grandchildren don’t grow up in poverty.

The lone post on this thread that recognizes the game.
