An adorable owl was rescued late Thursday evening by the California Highway Patrol after crashing onto a busy Southern California roadway.
The injured owl was found on a busy three-lane road in Stevenson Ranch at about 10:14 p.m., officer Luis Quintero from the California Highway Patrol told the California Post.
Officers spotted the beige, wide-eyed owl stranded along The Old Road, just north of Stevenson Ranch Parkway in Santa Clarita. Lying helpless in the left lane, the owl struggled on its back, wings fluttering against the pavement.

Is that the Tiger Woods version of an owl?
Big thanks to the officers who did the right thing.
Prayers up for a successful rehabilitation and release.
He was desperately trying to escape California!
Thx for posting
The little guy is in good hands now. Hope for a successful recovery and release into the wild.
That’s a Great Horned Owl. We have one in our neighborhood and it comes and hangs out in the tree in front of my place occasionally. The ravens get very upset about it.
And we know CA is full of rats of all kinds. ;-)
This was a pair of ravens that I had never seen in the neighborhood before and they were super upset. Making such a ruckus that it brought people outside. One of the ravens was up in the tree gnashing and snapping twigs off and dropping them onto the sidewalk. Then he flew across the street and I could see what looked like a paper bag up in the tree…. Got closer and saw that big fella looking down at me. It was so cool!
Funny thing is the ferocious enemy of the crow is the mocking bird. They will chase and mob a crow or raven. And mocking birds are acrobatic and have that sleek build and markings, reminds me of a Spitfire airplane when they are chasing crows! Luckily no blood is ever spilt.
Hopefully the owl 🦉 has a speedy recovery.
Agreed.
Wonderful thread. Thanks.
This wise one might be the victim of a California wind farm. He must have been very disoriented. //////////// Meanwhile youtube is flooded with fake kitten rescue videos. Other animal rescues too. AI slop of course.
You think ravens get upset? Pigeons are scared to death of owls, and for darn good reason.
Crows around here stay away from my house. Pigeons don’t recognize a 12 ga when they see one. Something eats them at night.
For years, I had a little Screech Owl sit on the peak of our shop, at night, and hunt the driveway and mowed field in front. The shop light would cast out on this area, and I would spot it quietly swooping down to pick off its mousy dinner. I loved having that friend join me there at night, as I listened to music, and worked on my projects. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it…
Looks like he broke his freakin neck.
Hope he is OK.
Was in a pre dawn tree stand and had a GH owl materialize 10 feet away as the sun rose. One of my best days hunting and didn’t kill a thing.
A friend lost all her chickens to a Great Horned Owl. Then a cat. One night she spotted it on a pole near her house. After the chickens were gone, the owl left and was never seen again.
