A world-renowned Napa Valley restaurant has been hit with bombshell claims of unpaid wages and vile bathrooms.
Elena Flows Beteta is suing French Laundry and Thomas Keller Restaurant Group over alleged violations of the California labor code, per the Press Democrat.
Beteta, who worked as a dishwasher from 2022-2025, filed the suit in Napa County Superior Court on behalf of her and “over fifty current and former aggrieved employees,” she claims.
They claim the restaurant and its owners failed to “consistently pay for all hours worked, including overtime hours.”
Beteta and the other employees allege they were repeatedly “required to work off the clock” and to complete “post-shift tasks” for which they were unpaid, such as cleaning walls and mopping floors.
One of the more shocking allegations included employee bathrooms were a 10-minute walk from the restaurant, located inside a nearby storage unit and “consistently filthy,” the lawsuit states.
Employees claimed they “frequently missed meal periods,” and when they were provided, they were “often later, short and/or interrupted.”
Rest periods were also “frequently missed” and “not scheduled into daily shifts,” the lawsuit states.
They also were allegedly denied “suitable resting facilities,” and often forced to lean up against a wall or take their rest breaks in their car.

I believe it.
Leftists treat others, especially those they consider lesser than themselves, like garbage.
And yet they insist on policies that work against a meritocratic workplace.
We must have carve outs for the oppressed minorities.
Since this is California, I am wondering about the citizenship of Elena Flows Beteta and “over fifty current and former aggrieved employees”
To which nation do they owe allegiance?
There is a man who can free the Newsome slaves.
His name is Zorro
Where is Zorro when he is so sorely needed?
They couldn’t even get the café stains out my shirt.
Maybe someone should look into the restaurant’s health inspections over the years...
Hint, hint...
It’s tough on a restaurant that operates on such a slim profit margin. Ha!
EC
First, that’s a great way to get a 25-minute break.
Second, they were “employee bathrooms” — who made the bathrooms filthy? It’s not difficult or asking too much to keep your own space at least sanitary.
Third, I haven’t read the case and I’m not taking sides yet.
Leftists treat others, especially those they consider lesser than themselves, like garbage.
Its why they look at them as pee ons.
Oh, my goodness.
A restaurant with health and labor complaints.
My niece is a cook in a small Thai restaurant. The owner is careful to pay for every minute worked, and gives everyone a 2-hour break between lunch and dinner by closing the place. Staff uses the regular restrooms.
Large high-class restaurants are different, of course, and sometimes abuse employees.
This $200/plate joint is where Newsom ate with his buddies - INSIDE - hours after closing down all California restaurants - many of which never reopened.
This alone should have ended this hypocrite’s political career.
We were in Napa a few months ago and I asked my SIL where the French Laundry was located - it was on the next block from where we parked (we hate at a take-out place) - not impressed at all.
I get that this was a thing years ago.
Want to bet this person and most of the others were illegals.
You can bet they wee illegals.
Is there a restaurant in France called the Californian Laundry? or La Blanchisserie Californienne?
Illegal South of the border latinx.... workers will tolerate this. They just found some activist lawyer. I would laugh my arse off the second they win the restaurant has to close and they all get deported.
I’m surprised they let that “person” sitting next to Newsome in the restaurant
