One of the many obnoxious characteristics of present-day liberal elitists that makes them so detestable is their deep superiority complex, their Sophomania, their delusional belief that they are intellectually---as well as morally---superior to everyone else, particularly conservatives whom they see as Neanderthals. They truly believe they have a monopoly on intelligence and morality.
Camille Paglia put it well: “Many highly educated, upper-middle-class Democrats regard themselves as exemplars of ‘compassion’ (which they have elevated into a supreme political principle) yet they routinely assail Trump voters as ignorant, callous hate-mongers.”

This smug Sopjomania of theirs, combined with their self-righteous stance, is something that they bounce back and forth as they view with contempt the rest of the country, particularly the working class. When working class-Americans “dare to complain about the southern border or about jobs getting shipped overseas, what do they get called? They get called racists, they get called bigots, xenophobes, or idiots.”
The leftist writer, Christopher Lasch, wrote that liberals see the rest of the public as “hopelessly shabby, unfashionable, and provincial.” And in their way. Yes, the people are standing in the way of progress, liberals being certain of the lack of “capacity of ordinary citizens to grasp issues.”
Back in the 1930s and 1940s, the complete opposite was the case. The common man was seen as the salt of the earth, imbued with kindness, friendship, loyalty, common sense. Frank Capra films illustrated this populist philosophy.

Nazis had the same delusion.
Ayn Rand identified the root cause: Altruism. When your morality demands sacrifice above all else it does not matter how many times this suicidal empathy fails. Sacrifice itself is defined as the good, results are irrelevant to that kind of belief .
“liberal elitists”
Is this not an oxymoron?
No wonder, “normal” people cannot stand them.
Yes, they are educated by the marxists universities, but they have no idea how the world works.
They have been living comfortably shielded from the real world their whole life, so they feel they are better than the rest and show it!
This has the ring of truth. Now the left will call us names for noticing. Sigh.
-If you ask a conservative why they are conservative, they will usually tell you either that they were raised that way, or that there was a particular issue or event that sharpened their political focus into conservatism.
-If you ask a liberal why they are liberal, they will inform you, as modestly as they can, that their natural intellectual and moral superiority really wouldn't allow for any other outcome.
don’t confuse education with intelligence ... apples and oranges ...
Hence the lyrics, "Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more."
You'd think they'd have sung "till there are no poor no more," but no.
Norton’s popups have made American Thinker unreadable.

Yeah, whatever. Just ask these “intellectuals” to define what a woman is, or what a fetus is, and watch them gasp for air.
Of the 7 deadly sins ENVY is the worst. It seeks to destroy the good merely because it is good. It does not strive to match an achievement, merely to bring down the achievement to the level of the hater. I consider myself fortunate that I don't have much envy in me. I can't imagine how miserable I'd be looking around all the time for something to hate just because it is something I would have wanted for myself.
I pay for my bandwidth so video ads are the worst. My trick is to quickly highlight everything, copy it, then post it on a blank page. I then close out the annoying bandwidth hog page. After that I can read the text of what I duplicated on that blank page at my leisure.
With leftists, altruism does not mean they sacrifice, but that you sacrifice. Altruism is at the core of Christianity, but it is the Christian who is supposed to give up everything for the sake of Christ, which is why it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.
One of the errors of Pope Leo XIV calling for universal health care is that what he really means is that taxpayers should be forced to pay for healthcare for everyone. The Catholic church used to build hospitals and medical clinics for the poor, spending their own money in God's work, which is how it is supposed to be; now they browbeat everyone into forced sacrifice, which only leads to fraud on the receiving side and resentment on the forced-giving side.
There is little doubt in my mind that Christian Civilization has been a blessing to the World. It ended up ending most slavery and making high trust countries . It also gave birth to the Scientific revolution and the United States itself . However sacrifice for the sake of sacrifice has had an awful effect upon the World. It is the moral justification for Socialism , Islam and other evils.
I use to wonder how a just God could support such a thing. I then had an epiphany . God works long range. He knew leaders would easily support a belief that made slaves whip themselves. So Christianity took hold . All part of His overall grand plan.
That age is over. Western Europe is already "gone". The US is barely holding on, if we elect Gavin Newsom in 2028, we'll be back to where we were under the Biden Administration.
The remnants of the Western Civilization may survive in Latin America and Eastern Europe. And Israel.
