ransomnote: I excerpted the video. The first half is the the Japanese PM's reaction to Trump asking why Japan didn't tell the US about Pearl Harbor in advance (she straightens in her chair). The second half was her reaction to his statement, 'You believe in suprise, I think, much more than us.' (She raises her brows and blinks)

It was supposed to be a question for his dignitary guest, but the insolent fellow directed his snarky inquiry to the President of the United States — and got the slap-down he deserved.
Japan has been an excellent ally for 75 years.
I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.
True.
It’s part of a negotiating tactic to get their help opening the Strait of Hormuz. 100% guaranteed to work.
“ I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.”
Did you watch the conversation?
And by watch, I mean not just attempting to shame and antagonize me with ‘of course I watched it what’s wrong with you?”
I mean did you watch the whole conversation?
Because, maga as reported by enter today is 100% behind Trump. You can take that as 100% sick of knee jerk ‘Trump is wrong’ without even looking at the situation
That. Is. Hysterical.
My mostly apolitical wife was howling.
We’ll not see his like again.
I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.
The Europeans deserve this treatment. Not the Japanese.
We need this man…He Fights!
I didn’t watch it, I read it.
Watching is for emoters.
If you think POTUS is 100% above criticism, your mind is weak. And emotional.
“I didn’t watch it, I read it.
Watching is for emoters.“
Devil is in the details
As you said no reason to shame and antagonize. Unless you’re tds needs to do so to others
I don’t see that as shaming any one.
The point is an obvious one about operational security and one that any listener fully understood.
If you watch the clip, Trump gave a respectful answer about the need for surprise in the attack. It was not to shame anybody but just to state what everybody knows about how you have to do war.
Not sure where you saw a transcript, but you have to hear Trump’s gentle, non-belligerent voice to understand that it was not the snarky or bellocose Trump that the media tries to make him out to be (and sometimes he is).
“Japan has been an excellent ally for 75 years.
I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.”
The reporter tried to shame America and got his comeuppance, “shaming Japan” has nothing to do with it.
A reminder that on that same day, Japan also attacked:
The Phillipines
Hong Kong
Malaya
Guam
Wake Island
Midway Island
It’s a wonder he couldn’t pull together a western coalition with this level of tact.
Correct, and Trump made the reporter pay the price. Trump made that reporter look so stupid he might commit ritual seppuku on the plane ride back.
Best president ever!!
