he USS Gerald Ford is headed for service repairs in Crete days after experiencing an hourslong fire while deployed in the Red Sea for service in the Iran war.
The aircraft carrier will spend over a week in port at the Naval Support Activity Souda Bay for repairs, according to the U.S. Naval Institute. The ship's move from the Middle East comes after a fire that started in the laundry area on Thursday reportedly burned through part of the ship's sleeping quarters and lasted about 30 hours before it was extinguished.

It seems like information is very controlled in this war as compared to others.
One has to use twitter and social media to find information, but that is very limited and requires a lot of work to find.
Hey, for a ship that has been sunk 6 to 9 times by the Iranians, it is doing pretty good.
Mr “X10 NewsUpdate and Global Warm” assures me it was sunk March 16,2026. It even had a smile on his face while he said it.

This report by the Times of India appears to be more credible.

The Bush did it’s repairs 3 months ago and left to replace the Ford. As an old Navy guy, I can tell you it is normal. They cannot stay on the Ocean indefinitely and stay on Mission. so I believe this was a planned rotation. The fire was unfortunate, but who do you believe? the Media? Iran? or the Navy Commanders?
“It seems like information is very controlled in this war as compared to others. One has to use twitter and social media to find information, but that is very limited and requires a lot of work to find.”
It’s two factors:
1. It’s almost all good news for the USA. The MSM’s overriding #1 goal is to get Trump. Trump pulling this off so well does not help their purpose.
2. It’s an air campaign, which are secret by nature.
When I served, maintenance was an all-day, everyday job. Only “deferred” in battle conditions.
How often did you clean the dryer vents?
Interesting. No actual details on Ford Incident

It is probably a regularly scheduled process, in a place that handles clothes for a few thousand people daily.
“Politicians decry conditions”
- I think they plan to send up a collection to send hair curlers to the ship.

i am GUESSING that the ship is basically still functional (especially the aircraft onboard) while in port for repair?
hopefully!

USS Forrestal —
How many Muslim sailors are on board?
It should be as often as required, laundry should not be able to disable warships just because of a bad design and not maintaining lint traps.
Good one! :)
Bingo!
If fires never ever happened then we’d be a much safer world.
But sometimes they do despite care, caution and well-known standards.
Fuel, spark and oxygen are all it really takes.
IMO just the opposite. There is too much fake internet slop out there. People are sucking up anything without the slightest question of authenticity. The worst part is that is driven by agenda rather than logic.
