The US military dropped 5,000-pound bunker buster bombs on underground Iranian missile sites near the Strait of Hormuz Tuesday, according to authorities.
The massive attack announced by US Central Command came as the war with Iran had staunched the flow of shipping through the vital Persian Gulf waterway.
“Hours ago, US forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound deep penetrator munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites along Iran’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz,” the regional command said on X around 7 p.m. EST.
“The Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these sites posed a risk to international shipping in the strait,” CENTCOM added.
A US official told CNN that the munitions were the GBU-72 Advanced 5K Penetrator, an explosive first released by US aircraft in 2021.
The massive bomb was developed to “overcome hardened, deeply buried target challenges and designed for both fighter and bomber aircraft,” according to a US Air Force press release from 2021.

Iran continues intense attacks on Middle East neighbors after Israel says it ‘eliminated’ 2 of its top officials
We try to, but some crank judge stops it because it may inconvenience some cute little furry animal or is on the ancestral land of some newly created Indian tribe.
I am also for testing our equipment on fun targets to see how well they perform.
I am also happy we get training for our troops for worse times than now.

Exactly, if this was about oil the US would have invaded Canada. It probably has as much oil as Iran, a smaller population, less capable military and less tenuous logistics.

It is about eliminating the terrorist threats backed by aquiring nuclear weapons.
This has been the case since late 1970’s. They have been attacking and threatening the USA for 47 years!

Will the truth eventually come out? I hope so. But at this time time I don’t think anyone is telling the truth and just the truth. That said, I am a bit more inclined to trust administration than the media.
If the US makes the passage and keeps the passage safe then we should charge a “toll” that will pay for securing the Straits of Hormuz. The payment would pay for our military PLUS 25%. If the total cost is $10,000,000,000.00 per year the reimbursement would be $12,500,000,000.00.
Trump isn’t complaining that no one has come to help. He is setting the table to exact a cost.

One of the least expected moves Iran has made in this whole thing it to turn around and start attacking the other muslim states.
While they’re chanting *Death to America*, and vowing retaliation, they are wasting munitions on attacking countries that weren’t even bothering them.
Then they said no more, and within hours turned right around and continued attacking them.
IMO, this is proof positive that Iran was a threat to the entire world since even other muslims are/were not safe.
FYI... Canada has about 171 billion barrel of oil. 97% of it is in oil sands. Iran has about 200 billion barrels in oil reserves.
Oil is definitely involved, but it’s not ALL about oil.
