Man Accidentally Hacks an Army of 7,000 Robot Vacuums, Able to Access Video Feeds Within People’s Homes

A man over in Spain tried to hack into his own vacuum cleaner robot, but instead, he accidentally hacked into 7,000 different vacuum robots—giving him direct access to live video feeds within people’s homes. Basically, he discovered a backdoor within these Chinese-made robots that made them extremely insecure

Relax. He didn’t do it on purpose. Its not his fault the Chinese left a giant security hole in their software.

This is nothing compared with what an Optimus robot will report back to the mothership when you think it isn’t watching.

Maybe everything should not be connected to the internet?

Just an idea.

Actually was done a few years ago, but that time on purpose.

He had the robots yelling obscenities and racial slurs and things like that. Because he had NO imagination. I could have come up with a half a dozen other things that would have had people swearing their house was haunted.

I’m thinking I’d like to know the brand of vacuum without having to click a link of unknown integrity.

Sounds like a tool built for Communist Chinese spies to report back to China.

You cannot minimize the existential threat of thousands of vacuums in an organized, coherent assault on civilization. There is no end of the potential for havoc and chaos it presents if not destroyed before it goes to far. We need anti-vacuum technology NOW! Either that, or a vaccine.

>Maybe everything should not be connected to the internet?

But that would stop the government from making sure you don't misbehave !

Finding stuff that does not call home to big brother has become a problem. It used to be amusing when they tried to sell me a kitty potty that would send me an e-mail on the cat's waste elimination. How often it was used, by who and composition. I declined.

Now it is getting worrying. Because it now reports that I have cats, how many to a company who will harvest and sell my data.

And if they want they can remotely turn off the cleaning function of the litter box.

And the auto feeder.
