Paul R. Ehrlich, an eminent ecologist and population scientist whose best-selling book, “The Population Bomb,” was celebrated as a prescient warning of a coming age of food shortages and famine but later criticized by conservatives and academic rivals for what they called its sky-is-falling rhetoric, died on Friday in Palo Alto, Calif. He was 93.
His death, at a nursing facility in the retirement community where he lived, was caused by complications of cancer, his daughter, Lisa Marie Daniel, said.
As a young professor of biology at Stanford University in the mid-1960s, Dr. Ehrlich was known for his absorbing lectures on evolution, in which he described what plants and animals faced on a planet stressed by industrial pollution and rapid population growth. He distilled those lectures into an article published in December 1967 in New Scientist magazine.

During Erlich’s peak, Lawrence Ferlinghetti (poet and free speech advocate) said in an interview in a documentary that nearly all the world’s ills are due to overpopulation.
Wars over scarcity of food and resources. Famines around the world. Shortages of water. Inflation. Lack of access to education, healthcare and employment. Biodiversity loss, fishery depletion, and soil degradation. The additives, preservatives and processing of food in order to try to produce more on a faster basis.
Ferlinghetti said the Pope is sinful for denying women abortions, which would solve overpopulation.
I remember the graphic showing the overpopulated globe (with people icons sticking out all over it) that appeared in My Weekly Reader when I was in third grade. The accompanying text told how everyone would starve to death on our overcrowded Earth. I felt very sorry for the poor Australians who would have to starve while hanging upside down. Kids!
They tried frightening us children with The Population Bomb, then it was Global Cooling, then the Ozone Layer, now it’s Global Warming. Interesting how lefties enjoy scaring little children. What does that say about them?

Rachel Carson was a particularly evil person. Her book “Silent Spring” was the imputes for banning DDT the most effective insecticide for mosquitos. Thus the mosquitos flourished and Malaria flourished which I caught circa 1982 in Nigeria. The number of Malaria deaths was in the 100s of thousands. The very young and the very old were most of the victims. THANKS BITCH.
Oddly I read her book in the 5th grade and was horrified. That is what she wanted. When 11 years old your critical thinking ability is small. I believed her book but did not become an insane Eco Warrior. In high school I started taking science courses and in college, geology, biological sciences and lastly pharmacy. I had critical thinking skills then and knew Rachael Carson was a charlatan pretending to be a scientist.
She was evil.
