Reports indicate Netflix is paying as much as $600 million for the startup, including potential performance-based earn-outs, making it one of the largest acquisitions in Netflix history.
InterPositive, which was founded by Affleck in 2022 and operated in “stealth mode,” has a small team of 16 engineers and researchers who will join Netflix.
The AI tools are designed to assist with post-production tasks such as color adjustment, relighting scenes, fixing continuity mistakes, and enhancing visual effects, rather than replacing actors or generating new content.
Following the sale, Ben Affleck will join Netflix as a senior advisor. Affleck stated that he created the company to “protect the power of human creativity” by building AI tools that act as a supportive, rather than disruptive, technology. (Variety)
