I paid $107 fill up — and other horror stories from LA’s out-of-control gas crisis

After Jill Gottlieb finished filling up her car at a Chevron station in downtown Los Angeles, the final tally on the gas pump read $107.

“This is crazy,” the social worker for the LA County Department of Health told The Post of the staggering amount she paid to top off her 2017 Mercedes. “I’ve never filled up my tank for this much before.”

As gas prices surge across the state, the Chevron station at 901 N. Alameda St. has become a stark symbol of the worsening pain at the pump plaguing Californians.

A regular gallon of unleaded gas at the station goes for an eye-popping $8.21—leading drivers forced to fill up there speeding away in disgust.

“This is f------ crazy. What is this?” asked Crystal, of Orange County, whose Toyota RAV4 was running on empty when she pulled in.

“This was the closest station I could find, so I had to stop. I ’m only filling up enough to get home,” added the 36-year-old, who pumped 3.7 gallons for $30.47 and snapped photos of the price to send to her family.

Two attendants at the Chevron station refused to answer questions about the sky-high prices, saying they signed a nondisclosure agreement.

Gas prices can vary widely depending on the brand, location and franchise owner, who set prices based on their own preference.

On Saturday, the average cost of a regular gallon of gas in the state hit $5.07 — 17 cents more than Friday and 43 cents more than a week earlier, according to the American Automobile Association.

Prices in the Golden State remain well above the US average of $3.41 a gallon.

Florida doesn’t have refineries and it’s only 3.59 a gallon. It’s only gone up a dollar a gallon since Iran campaign.

Yep - since Iran started attacking oil tankers in the Gulf of Hormuz, prices have gone up, but on the MS coast, I can still get it for under $3/gal - but it was down to $2.16 a while back. It will be really good, for the whole world (except “Chy-na” once he and Israel throttle the Iran regime for god.

No one has to buy gas there. Don’t fault the owner.

The station is at the corner of E Cesar E Chavez Ave. how fitting.

On Saturday, the average cost of a regular gallon of gas in the state hit $5.07

Explain the price disparity if you don't think the station owner is screwing the public.

Easy solution for California. Cap the prices at $4.00 a gallon and raise the taxes. That should solve the problem of people driving gasoline powered cars.

Don’t fault the owner.

I don't think it was Santa who set the price at $8.21.

.......franchise owner, who set prices based on their own preference.

Where I live, a Chevron station that everybody in town drives past nearly every day has prices that are consistently 40 - 60 cents higher than any other stations in town. Yet, people still buy gas there.

I talked to a worker one day, when I was buying propane, about that. He said that the owner wants all of his 25 stations to have the same gas price. He sets the price according to the most expensive price of any of his stations area.

Gavin doesn't care - he drives around in a caravan of three limos, his in the middle. Gas and limos paid for by "The People." This is from my local Shell station, yesterday, So Cal:

In case the image doesn't format properly or is too small to read - the cheapest gas at this station is $5.99/gallon.

This is why the rest of the country needs to keep an eye on this - if Gavin is the POTUS candidate in 2028, which is looking likely - he will happily bring his “climate change” and “green” policies nation wide.

Gavin Newsom is only responsible? Not anymore.

This unnecessary foreign war in Iran is ripping apart the oil infrastructure in the middle east and has caused the fastest increase in oil prices in more than 40 years.

how soon before the California powers-that-be announce that the solution to high gas prices is for the state to take over all fuel distribution and retail sales?
