John Cornyn compared January 6 to 9/11, and called attendees "white supremacists, domestic terrorists, insurrectionists, rioters, seditionists, anarchists."
He then asked then-FBI Director Chris Wray if a new law was needed to charge attendees with "domestic terrorism."

Hello! Randfan, you British subject of the British monarchy.
You would know all about being ruled by a sovereign, wouldn’t you?
The adultery is bad.
King David was not only an adulterer but also a murderer to cover up his adultery. God was displeased and there were consequences, but God still recognized David as a “man after God’s own heart”.
Trump also has a past that’s not pretty. But God has used him mightily and I believe saved his life because of the plans He had for Trump, for His purposes.
Paxton is a lot like Trump, also, in that he is a fighter and that means he will be hit harder than anybody, by all of Satan’s forces. Temptations, yes. But also lawfare, slander, etc. The whole system is set to BREAK people like Trump and Paxton through psychological, social, legal, and physical warfare.
I know a little bit about that because I am still trying to recover financially and emotionally from what I believe is John Brennan’s murder of my husband in order to stop the research I was doing at the time regarding his own cover-up of his crime of falsifying Obama’s records. If a person has never been attacked like that, they don’t understand what a miracle it is for the person under attack just to be alive and still standing firm against the cabal.
Paxton stands for the right things. That’s why they attack him. Nobody gets out of that situation unscathed and smelling like a rose. This is why so many of our best fighters measure their deployments in terms of the marriages, limbs, and possible life that they will lose in the process. I don’t mean to excuse anything Paxton may have done that is wrong, but I really want the average joes to understand the warfare that is going on and what it costs the people on the front lines.
This is a good site about what happened to the signers of the Declaration of Independence: https://1776history.com/2022/07/03/the-declaration-signers-lives-fortunes-and-sacred-honor/
Pence agrees with you.
Cornyn is a horrible, disgusting politician - and the competition is fierce.
Unlike a lot of you all, I don’t really see much of an advantage of putting Republicans in office, since most of them are just like him, only better at covering it up.
Our country is in a sad place.
That’s how I feel about the situation, too. Cornyn had his shot. He’s not McCain level. But he’s climbing on that arc. Primary’s and elections are the tools we have to bring about change when constituents aren’t happy with their representative.
Well, what is it, then?
I would be OK with that. Especially if Paxton replaced Bondi.
I wonder if Trump was mad about Paxton changing his mind (about withdrawing if SAVE passes) because it sets the stage for conservatives to feel betrayed by the deal. I can’t help but think that the voters are sort of overlooked in this process, but I think it’s basically Trump using leverage to offer Texans the “best bang for their buck”. Paxton as AG and the SAVE Act passing, in return for them holding their noses and voting for Cornyn rather than letting Talarico win because of the circular firing squad. There’s always the hope that both Thune and Cornyn would come out of it feeling a bit obliged (and maybe a bit shamed by the real fighters actually doing what is best for the country.
So did Markwayne Mullin. Called Byrd a hero.
You can fix ignorance (deceived). But you can't fix stupid.
So...
Jesse J didn’t “shuffle off this mortal coil.” this mortal recently? There are a number of other old hippie political shysters that need to shuffle pn.off as well.
What’s amazing to me is that the press insists clinging, clutching, and grasping to these old decrepit theives and liars.
Most of the purported sleeze of Paxton is just slander from the Bush crowd.
I note his adult daughter wrote an op-ed about Paxton saying he was a great dad and that there are two sides to his marital issues and she appreciates he kept quiet for the sake of his kids.
It’s Cornyn noting that there are all different kinds of people accused of domestic terrorism, asking Chris Wray whether charging for the specific acts they do rather than the terroristic intent behind their actions is the best way.
It’s taken as a stab in the back toward J6ers because the government used fake charges against a lot of J6ers who weren’t doing anything wrong - and the ones who really WERE doing the wrong (most of them actors paid to do it) were NOT charged. So justice was not done, based on a false narrative of who were actually the terrorists. The terrorists were the ones who paid the actors to do the acts to set up the Trump supporters as the bad guys. That would be Nancy Pelosi, Bowser, Milley, etc, as I noted.
But in cases like Ice Watch, where they plan obstruction of justice, violence, trespassing, slander, coordination with government and law enforcement to commit those crimes, etc... Cornyn’s questions are valid.
So he was asking reasonable questions, when you lay aside the false “narrative” of J6. He did refer to a “narrative” and implied that J6ers doing violence were not necessarily just “Trump supporters” in general, but he didn’t outright confront Wray about that false narrative. And I don’t know what his other statements are about J6 - especially in light of SCOTUS’s slamming down how the prosecutors misused a statute to charge people who committed no crime, and how they upped the penalties on those non-crimes as well.
Markwayne Mullin was recorded saying he gave Michael Byrd a hug. And somebody posted here that Cornyn also praised Byrd. But I wonder how much either of those guys knew at that time about how this was all a set-up. Like I said, hard to tell if they are treasonous or just deceived for a time. What they’ve said since a bunch of stuff has been exposed could help answer that question, and I don’t know what they’ve said since.
My guess he is an international communist as opposed to a national communist. His rhetoric matches all the known commies in the country.
True. And that’s why so much depends on how both Mullen and Cornyn have responded to SCOTUS’s slapdown of the lawfare against J6ers and the evidence that this was all a setup to frame Trump supporters as insurrectionist terrorists.
Seeing what people said in the past is informative, but it always requires honest updates as well. Did the person in question choose to remain in their ignorance?
Cornyn is a weak-kneed Murkowski wannabe.
He’s getting worse with each passing year.
Poster boy for term limits!
A sleazy personal life, out in the open, can't be used as blackmail. Best to know about the clay feet.
I asked Grok in 2 different ways what Cornyn has said about Michael Byrd, and both times the response was that there aren’t any public comments that specifically reference him. So if there are quotes, I have no way of finding them.
He needs a haymaker right in the pie hole.
Cornyn should be (redacted) until (redacted), because of his treachery.
