Two young children and a woman suffered burns after multiple manhole covers exploded in lower Manhattan Thursday afternoon, cops and sources said.
The sudden blast occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Warren and Church Streets in Tribeca, injuring a 2-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, and a 57-year-old woman, according to police and sources.

A buddy and his bro-in-law formed a bar band and needed a name. They played mostly heavy metal cover tunes, so I suggested “The Manhole Covers” and they said, “Nah, we want to have a more family-friendly sounding name”!

No spoilers, but it’s got a great line that hubby and I still quote to each other, indicating we have hit total rock bottom. And we never even met until years after that film came out.
I have to say though, I grew up in NYC and that movie really hurt my feelings when it came out. But it is very good. I forgot the manhole cover part.
It is easy to ascertain the cause of the explosions. HELL is coming up to NYC.
I thought that maybe they pushed garbage into the sewers and the rotting caused methane gas, which was somehow ignited...
