If people have property when they die, who should inherit it? You can't take it with you.
Increased inequality reduces government's concern for the general welfare.
The public owns all natural resources in common and no one deserves more than an equal share of their fruits. The Alaskan oil dividend could be a model here.
Inheritance reform would not eliminate billionaires; it would only eliminate hereditary billionaires.

Well that's the rub. If AI threatens to eliminate work as we know it, are concepts of universal health care and universal basic income inevitable? And if they are inevitable, do conservatives need to start work now in shaping those concepts now rather than let communists have free reign in shaping policy in crisis mode?
But, so-called 'inequality' does not increase naturally. Bad government policies cause it.
Most families have gained wealth at some point. It may not be a billion dollars. But, if you own a home and the land it's on, you have wealth to pass on, even if it's a small rowhome. A paid-off home is valuable because then your heirs will always have an affordable place to live, if needed.
The term 'generational wealth' applies here. The Left has twisted that term, and the Right misunderstands it. But 'generational wealth' is an important concept that everyone should embrace. If you own property, you have generational wealth to pass down.
The problem is, the government keeps taking that wealth, mostly from poorer families. Many families lose 'generational wealth' through Medicaid recovery, high property taxes, eminent domain, and so on.
These are desperate times. But the government should not be confiscating and redistributing your property and wealth when you pass on.
Instead, government policies should be changed so that families can keep their wealth and pass it down.
I want to inherit folks’ daughters on tuesdays. Why should they be so fortunate and...didn’t earn those riches.

The real issue is our political system from the top down is entirely “for sale” and everyone with money domestic and foreign, knows this.

Understanding the American political system is realizing that it is driven by money, period. Money pays for the party, political campaigns, lobbying, legal litigation and it makes the politician or their family wealthy.
There are a hundred ways you can buy off a US politician, legally. Hire a relative, buy their kids art, pay $50,000 a plate at a campaign fund raiser and buy out entire round tables, pay millions for a spouse of a politician to give a 40-minute speech... The American political system disproportionately represents the interests of the extreme wealthy (oligarchs) and corporations.

I merely know that our government is basically for sale to the highest bidder.
In most cases where the interests of a small but affluent minority are in conflict with the majority, the affluent minority gets their way. The issue is not inheritance.
