You do understand when dogs are in attack mode nothing short of a bullet will stop them.

We live in a nice neighborhood and there’s a family with two pit bull type of dogs with heads the size of a cow. I carry my .380 when I take my Lab for a walk.

I am having a pit bull issue and trying to figure out how to defend. The only sure fire way seems to be a gun

Feral dogs know no breed. If they have gone truly feral, any breed can be a killer.

The owner had one on a leash that attacked the poor little ridge dog .can’t remember full name .then more came out of house or yard. Bystander called it most barbaric animalistic thing he had ever seen. All of the people probably traumatized. And oh yeah .bear spray didn’t work

I live Alabama, about 80 miles North of Daleville. Three of four years ago, I found 3 large pitbulls in my barn—one of them looked like a Cane Corso. I was coming up on the tractor, and they came at me very aggressively. I was able to drive them off by high powering the engine and chased them. I went in the house, grabbed my rifle and took a couple of shots in the ground where they ran off to into the woods.

After that, I was a little spooked. I almost never drive my tractor to the barn, as that’s where I keep it, and usually walk out the TO it. I just so happened to be using it to scrape the driveway. I shudder to think what I would’ve done if I was on foot.

Luckily, I never saw those dogs again. Hardly ever a stray around, come to think of it.

I suspect there is more than one “owner”.
It was probably several dogs dropped off in the country that eventually packed up.
As a country boy, I’ve seen it my entire life.

“Maybe they were feral?”
Seriously? How many feral pit bull packs are there roaming in America?
Pull your head out !

When I go to the local animal shelter, the majority of dogs are pits and pit mixes. It is possible a number of unwanted pits could form a feral pack.

Shoot it between the ears. Don’t have any part of your body in it’s mouth at the time.

Not at all unusual for rural dog owners to let their dogs run loose during the day. Heard of incident where guy came home from work (northwest GA) and found a pack of dogs lying down in his calf pen with just the head of a calf left. He got his trusty AR15 and killed all but a couple of them. The dog owners were of course incensed and took him to court. The judge determined that the dog owners indeed owned the dogs and forced the calf owner to pay some nominal sum for the dogs but then made the dog owners pay $800 for the calf. Not sure about the dollar amounts these anecdotes vary in the telling, but the dog owners came off second best.

A handsome young man spending the day fishing at home....just horrible. His poor family and friends. RIP

I hate, HATE, HATE pit bull dogs. Our shelter has probably 40 of them to adopt right now. A clue...no one really wants them so gas them.

I have to walk with my sig because of stupid dogs.

I have never shot a gun in my life so trying to find alternative. India has a big loose dog problem. I have seen them use metal buckets if done before they get at you
