Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold restock sold out in minutes Despite being $2,899.99 for the 512GB model, it sold out quickly — again.

Samsung unleashed a new batch of Galaxy Z TriFold units after selling out initial stock of the behemoth foldable that turns into a 10-inch tablet. It took less than ten minutes to sell through today’s supply, which either speaks to the phone’s surprising popularity or, rather, just how few of them the company is making. The device launched on January 30th, and unlike most other Samsung phones, availability of this one was limited to the company’s own site.

The TriFold costs $2,899.99 and comes with 512GB of storage (you’d think paying this much would get you at least 1TB, but alas). It’s essentially three phones in one; one when it’s folded, another when it opens to double the screen real estate, and ultimately, in its final form is as a large tablet that makes multitasking easier than with vastly inferior (joking) single-hinge foldables.

While my colleague Allison Johnson waited for our review unit to show up, she had a surprisingly good time with using the Z Fold 7 as a fold-out portable computer when paired with a wireless keyboard. It seems safe to say that using the TriFold, with its extra screen real estate, would make this kind of setup even better. Whether it’s nearly $1,000 better, though, is a question that only you can answer with your wallet.

I still miss my Motorola Star-Tak.
Had a pull up antenna and could survive a Toyota 4Runner driving over it.

Woops.

I still have it but I don’t think it can connect to networks anymore.

😁

I always thought Apple missed it by not incorporating phone software in the iPad mini. Teen girls would have loved it.

Tech like this will look so antiquated once we are all neuralinked to the AI cloud in two years.

Too soon to tell on the trifold, but I’ve had the Fold 4, 6 and now 7 and they’ve held up for tens of thousands of cycles.

Does it fold like a magic wallet? (Jacob’s ladder wallet.) For that kind of money it should do tricks.

“...the screens don’t hold up well to a lot of fold-unfold cycles....”

Do ya think?

I still have my two V60s devices, too. Since they’re 3G, I doubt if they’d connect, either.

I’ve got a slew of old flip phones which are probably useless.

He kept them for whatever reason, packed away in their boxes.

Found a pile of them when I donated his clothes.

This is what I found:

1
Motorola StarTac Flip Phone Rare | eBay
Motorola StarTAC phones (released 1996) generally no longer connect because they rely on 2G analog/GSM networks that have been shut down in most regions, particularly the US. If in a region with supported 2G, ensure the antenna is secure, clean the SIM card contacts, and use a full-size SIM, as modern networks may not recognize the device

Wow selling like hotcakes on eBay for an extra $2000. Seller has sold 8 an has one left.

Guaranteed the ones buying them are YouTubers who want to be among the first to review them, hoping to more than make it up in ad revenue.
