Amber Glenn skated to “Like a Prayer” during Tuesday’s short program. Now she’s in serious need of one herself.
One of the U.S.’s “Blade Angels,” Glenn was left in tears following a massive error in her skate — she landed a double loop instead of a triple — that left her in 13th place with just the free skate to go.
The 26-year-old was just one of two skaters on the day to land a triple axel, but her blunder was scored as an invalid element for which she received no points.

She needs more mental health support since she’s bisexual/pansexual in order to help her win.
Plenty of humidity and mosquitos here in NY....the woman who won the mono-bob the other day was from Georgia...
Maybe a little too distracted with faggotry and thought this was some kind of participation trophy?
Great way to start my day!
Next time, do your job and shut up about Politics!!
Boo hoo. She doesn’t represent the USA of its founding fathers — she represents EU-style globalism.
The Loop is done while skating backward on the right edge. You sort of wrap yourself up while jumping and time the landing so that you end up again going backward on the right edge. It’s hard to see how she made the mistake since the timing between two and three revolutions is so different. In contrast, the Axel is done while skating forward on the right edge and lands going backward on the right edge, so it requires an additional 1/2 turn.
Here’s what i don’t know or understand- couldn’t she try it again in her program?? Or does she lay out the program to judges beforehand and its one and done per attempts?
She deserves to lose at every event she enters. What an idiot.
Not commonly understood these days is that jumps are not all a skater is judged on. Footwork is also included in the calculation of points. One complaint against modern figure skating is that it too heavily weighted on what amounts to gymnastics, albeit done artistically. The term "figure" in figure skating refers to a mastery of all the edges, including counters, turns, and brackets. The average viewer hardly notices them anymore, but they are there and the judges watch for them. If she tried to re-choreograph her routine on the fly, she would probably have to omit something else which would affect her score.
ZFG.
She needed to land on her AWFL butt.
I haven’t watched one second of that clown show.
I’ve been to Olympic figure skating finals four times- Mens & Womens finals in 1988, Ice Dance and Womens finals in 2002...
I’ve been to a LOT of sporting events (Final 4, Indy 500, Kentucky Derby, 4 different Olympics, lots of college football)...the final group of the 2002 womens finals which took about 25 minutes was the MOST intense sporting event i’ve ever attended...
That said its not “figure skating” anymore- its gymnastics on ice...Isabeau Levito is a great figure skater but since she can’t do 7 triples she doesn’t have a chance...
Ditto Jason Brown- great figure skater but he can’t do a zillion quads so he’s out...
You have to go back at least forty years to see proper emphasis given to footwork as compared to jumps. Still, even today, every trained skater spends countless hours, usually early in the morning when rink-time is available, doing what’s called “patch” practicing their edges by making precise patterns on the ice. Hence the name “Figure Skating”. However, in Spanish-speaking countries, they call it “patinage artistica”.
