NBC's streaming service Peacock has experienced bugs and errors throughout its coverage of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina. Perhaps the biggest and most inconvenient one has been when the broadcasts randomly cut to advertisements in the midst of the action.
While this issue has been prevalent throughout the games, it's biggest offense came during Sunday morning's coverage of the men's hockey match between Canada and France.
Canada, the heavy favorites for the gold medal, was up 10-2 in a demolition of Les Blues when the streamer suddenly cut to a commercial break in the middle of the action. By the time the broadcast resumed, Canadian enforcer Tom Wilson had discarded his gloves and was being skated to the penalty box.
It turns out, while advertisements were playing, Wilson got into the first fight of these Winter Games with French defenseman Pierre Crinon.
Fighting in Olympic hockey results in an automatic ejection, which means this may have been the only altercation fans will see in the entire tournament.
But, thanks to the error, the only way fans watching on the streaming service knew what happened came from a brief replay of the melee.
After Crinon was caught elbowing Canadian star Nathan MacKinnon up high, Wilson delivered a heavy hit on the Frenchman, leading to a brief exchange of punches.
Video from a Czechia journalist showed the action spilling over as Wilson appeared to go back at Crinon - with the two continuing to fight inside of the goal crease before being separated.
Cameras caught Wilson walking down the tunnel to the locker room as a result of his ejection.

Meh, stuff happens. No matter what they can’t show it all and you can’t see it all.
There aren’t if you watch the replays. BUT if they cut to commercial, ie didn’t have the cameras on, then you still get the skip ahead.
It’s all on Peacock. The stuff they’ve got on channels and other stuff. And you can watch it on replay without commercials.
There are fewer fights in hockey now. I like that because I always found them boring so a network cutting away to commercial wouldn’t have bothered me.
We have Peacock Streaming and have been enjoying their coverage immensely! We get a couple commercials at the start and then mostly non-stop coverage unless there’s a break for injury, resetting the course or ice resurfacing.
All day long, we can choose which live sport we want or watch replays of stuff we missed. Most commentators are decent, a few over-talkers, but all ex-olympians or otherwise knowledgeable.
When it switches over to the regular channel coverage it’s terrible, way too many commercials (often repetitive) & studio talkers, up close & personal bits & off-topic randomness.
I watch almost nothing including these games. I read about it here and sometimes watch some video clips. I’ve been here on FR for almost 25 years now and it has strongly influenced how I view all this viewing.
The USA women are playing at 10:40 am tomorrow on NBC.
> … And there will be commercials.
Well done.
NBC 5 doesn’t come in well via antenna in my house and I don’t subscribe to peacock, I haven’t been able to watch any of the Olympics

Blame Canada
Good luck contacting Peacock. No contact info listed. They have a “Help” button, which is NO HELP. If your issue does not fit their limited categories, no other options.
I’m currently at re-subscribe month, their software is very clumsy.
The Hanson brothers would be a better fight to watch.
“Wilson is the biggest scumbag in the NHL”
Wilson, same guy that broke Kevin Faila’s (Team Switzerland) leg in yesterdays game. Faila plays for the L.A Kings. No interest in watching the Olympics so I don’t know if it was a dirty play or not, but yeah Wilson has a reputation of being a bit of a goon / scumbag.
And now you have to pay three times to watch a network scheduled show. I cut it all off and only use a digital antennae and Prime. My bills went from $225 to $46 per month. The new analog to digital broadcast antenna gives me hundreds of shows for only the cost of a few commercials. I already have Prime for all of my free shipping on Amazon.
Old time hockey
Reminds me of the property tax scam governments stick up with.
An endless sales tax.....
Dirty play.
I have been noticing Peacock’s streaming coverage cutting out frequently. When I go to our local NBC channel; using our antenna, there is no such problem. Such a shame for Peacock to have such technical difficulties.

“There is a more expensive option one can get without the commercials..”
And the history of all of this is why I laugh at anyone who buys them. Lucy’s gonna pull the football away again.
