A Saline County jury on Thursday found a Benton woman guilty of multiple charges, including simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, and recommended she serve 10 years in prison.
Shardria Bogard was convicted February 12, 2026, of simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, according to the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
The charges stem from an Oct. 21, 2024, traffic stop conducted by Bryant Police Officer Shelbi McCarty.
According to prosecutors, McCarty observed a vehicle traveling 70 mph on Reynolds Road and initiated a traffic stop after activating her emergency lights. The vehicle pulled into a Circle K parking lot.
McCarty approached the vehicle and observed an open can of Coors beer in the cup holder. Authorities said Bogard admitted to having consumed three beers earlier in the evening. McCarty also reported smelling marijuana, and Bogard acknowledged having marijuana in the vehicle.
After asking Bogard to exit the vehicle, McCarty inquired whether she would find anything else during a search. Bogard said no, according to prosecutors.
Authorities said Bogard resisted when McCarty attempted to search her pockets. During the struggle, both women fell to the ground as Bogard allegedly refused to release an item from her hands. McCarty was eventually able to retrieve a small bag, which Bogard admitted contained cocaine, according to court testimony.
Prosecutors said Bogard continued to struggle and head-butted McCarty during the encounter.
Officer Devon Smith later searched the vehicle and located a loaded handgun between the driver’s seat cushion and the center console, authorities said.
She really ticked off the boxes on the bingo card, didn't she?
She was getting salty in Saline?
They should have added two years for public ugliness.
...”Shardria Bogard....” do I need to look...??
Shardria.....Shardria.....Shardria.....sort of rolls out of your mouth like a mouthful of marbles....
Drinking Coors is its own punishment.
10 years?
Priors?
OMG who comes up with these names?!
But honestly, 10 years seems excessive as she didn't shoot anyone nor kill anyone while driving impaired. It doesn't say how much cocaine either.
In half the states she would have gotten half the time for murder these days.
“Priors?”
Given what unfolded that night, I think that’s a very safe assumption.
Great, so this African-American woman is simply going to go to prison for her black culture. That’s just racist! /s
The only reasons the gun would be an issue in Ark. is that she is a felon or it was stolen or the serial number was removed.
Sounds like baby was just looking for a good time...
Yes. It’s odd for a black woman to have a taste for Coors. Maybe they should adjust their ad demographics.
Schafer Beer.
Schafer Beer is akin to getting the Rack.
Back in 1977 I got a Coors at the COPPER PENNY, a bar in Farmington NM. It was so bad I could not finish it! I had to drink two OLYMPIAS to get the taste out of my mouth.
Ten years is ridiculous, judges let murderers off with a slap to the hand. Proper therapy would be more productive for society.
She sounds fun.
Oh come on! That’s just a normal Saturday night in the Hood. 😆
True.
Speeding, drinking, cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon, fighting a cop....nothing to see here....
“and at that point the trouble started when someone dissed her.”
