Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is continuing his streak of breaking with his party — this time on voter ID legislation gaining momentum in the Senate.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Senate Democrats have near-unanimously rejected the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, election integrity legislation that made its way through the House earlier this week.
Schumer has dubbed the legislation "Jim Crow 2.0," arguing it would suppress voters rather than encourage more secure elections.
But Fetterman, who has repeatedly rejected his party’s messaging and positions, pushed back on Schumer’s framing of the bill.
"I would never refer to the SAVE Act as like Jim Crow 2.0 or some kind of mass conspiracy," Fetterman told Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany on "Saturday in America."
"But that's part of the debate that we were having here in the Senate right now," he continued. "And I don't call people names or imply that it's something gross about the terrible history of Jim Crow."
The bill would require voters to present photo identification before casting ballots, require proof of citizenship in person when registering to vote and mandate states remove non-citizens from voter rolls.

Show of courage and integrity by Fetterman, one Dem out of the whole party and not really a “fracture.” Maybe a hairline fracture.
With 81% of the public supporting voter ID laws, if the Republicans would stop playing to lose, they might be able to force some Democrats to join them. That level of support can’t be ignored.
Closest to an honest Democrat in what, 40 years?
Since Zell Miller!
Wouldn’t be nice to see Republicans follow his example?
It will suppress the cheating which means Chuck is right.
I do not understand why Republican politicians and Republican supporting media persons do not remind the public that the Jim Crow laws were passed by Democrats. That should be said every single time someone like Chuck Schumer refers to the SAVE America act Jim Crow 2.0. Most Americans do not know history so they are not aware that it was the Democrats who were the party of slavery.
Agreed. You have to wonder who in his caucus really cheesed him off.
Just curious.
The fact that Democrats let Fetterman talk big looks like Political Show Time to me.
He’s running for President in 2028. He staking out the middle ground. Trying to look normal.
But check his voting record. This is an act.
Democrat voters need to quit voting democrat et al and develop a new party. Y’might buy some integrity with an American party or something . . . but y’all done stained the shit out’a “democrat”
Yes Festerman is phony. He is just a plain old Communist Rat but he wants to look like JFK. It’s a ruse. If he believed any of his own spew then he could not possibly remain a Rat. He would have to switch parties.
And Moynahan, Lieberman.
Moynahan, Lieberman and Zell Miller were the very last of principled democrats. I didn’t agree with most of their positions but they respected the rights of people who disagreed with them.
There used to be a lot of conservative Democrats. I even cast the first vote of my life (in the 1972 Michigan Democratic Primary) for Henry “Scoop” Jackson ... even though my November ballot was for Nixon.
I remember the 1968 presidential election very well. When Hubert Humphrey delivered his concession speech, he acknowledged that the American people chose Nixon for their next president. He also encouraged his supporters to unite behind Nixon and support the country. Like his policies or not, he was truly a class act very worthy of respect.
Good point. They own Jim Crow.
That’s right...not a fracture...more like a bruise.
Reminds me of the cornerstone on a Chicago school if I remember correctly
“Abraham Lincoln democrat”
Kkk
Jim Crow
Segregation
Civil war
All the result of democrats, but with a willing media the truth is rarely exposed. Modern media outside the legacy media/ deep state control is helping but it is a steep hill to climb
