Olympic judge who cost Madison Chock and Evan Bates gold has a history of questionable scores

That controversy was ugly enough without a scoring debacle, but we absolutely got one courtesy of a single French judge in the finals. Jézabel Dabois, the judge in question, not only noticeably scored Chock/Bates lower than the rest of the panel, but more critically she vastly overscored F. Beaudry/Cizeron — and has been doing so for over a year.

She also designed the costumes for the couple who skated for Spain, you know, the British woman and Russian guy who train in Canada.

She designed the costumes for other skaters, too.

Once the Olympics let professionals play, they lost all their luster and meaning.

Remember the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake? French judge conspired with the Russian judge and the ioc had to step in and giving the Canadian couple gold in pairs

I like the Olympics and ice dancing is my favorite event in the winter Olympics. This reminds me of the 2002 Olympics when it was also a French judge who cheated by scoring extra points for the Russian team in exchange for their scoring high for a French team. In that case the IOC ended up giving out two sets of gold medals and banning the cheating judge for three years. I don’t understand it wasn’t a ban for life.

A competitive event that is based entirely on judges’ scoring isn’t even a real sport and has no place in the Olympics.

Olympic judges have been biased for decades, especially the USA.

1960 Olympics. 100 meter butterfly swimming event. The American Lance Larson had a swim time of 55.1 seconds electronically recorded. The Australian behind him had 55.2 seconds. But the judges ruled in favor of the Australian and he got the gold. Then Lance had his time officially recorded as 55.2 to help cover it up.

If the French judge’s low/high score was tossed, my bet would be an influence over the Spanish judge, who I believe placed the American couple 3rd, when all others had them 1st or 2nd. But the French judge (& several others) also barely deducted the French pair after they had a clear bobble on their spin/twizzle move (which is the main complaint in skating aficionado commentary threads). A previous pair with a similar mistep was clearly deducted more harshly.

I placed the Americans first (they had an expressive storyline throughout the routine, with the female acting as a matador) , the Canadian pair second (joyful) & French 3rd (routine seemed dull and seemed that he was carrying/dragging her about a lot more than others)

Judged events need to find a way to do without judges. It’s hard to get interested in what’s going on if only the judges know what’s going on. Even ski jumping has it’s judged beauty points system that keeps everything a mystery until the big reveal. Good thing Russia isn’t at this Olympics or the judging would really suck.

I have a favorite movie titled "Stick It" where female gymnastics competitors figure out how to "stick it" to the judges. I won't spoil the movie beyond that.

You pegged my gaydar.

Its all those sweaty, chiseled athletic boys trying to hookup with some hot & strange, but all of those are lesbians. The governments screw it up. The deranged and sexually confused really are screwing it up. Pro basketball?
Disrespect and bringing participation awards to the fore front. Bend the rules how you like. Its liberal to the core and very lame.

No. The love interest of Marlon Brando’s character, Terry Malloy, in the 1954 film “On the Waterfront” was Edie Doyle, played by actress Eva Marie Saint. She won an Academy Award for her debut role in this film.
