...it'll just keep recording and storing whatever it sees, forever?

A few years ago my wife and I were driving to town. Her cell phone was turned on but not in use. Among other things, we were talking about getting some outdoor furniture, and I happened to mention that Adirondack chairs were more comfortable than they looked. I hadn’t even thought about Adirondack chairs for years, and that was all I said about them. Didn’t want any, no plans to buy any. For the next month, we were getting email ads from Wayfair and others about, yep, Adirondack chairs.
I do have an old flip phone, but it spends about 99% of its time powered off in a desk drawer. I get spied on enough as it is, no need to help out.
Good morning!
Buy your own system.
Store the data locally on an SD card.
It’s not that difficult.

Well it’s a camera. Really you’re paying for access to what it records. Just because you stop paying doesn’t it stop being a camera. I would expect most of the time people who stop paying for it get rid of the camera, so it gets to record the inside of your dumpster for a while.
That “Search Party” ad which aired during the Super Bowl sounds like a positive thing, but there’s something iffy about using other people’s Ring cameras. Could it be used for some nefarious purpose, like some neighborhood pedo wants to know what children are walking alone.
The camera has microchips that deliver the images to other devices via wifi.
