So I guess the theory is that she came to the door and they took her right there after a struggle which ended up with her injured to the point that blood was spilled. Did she open the door to a stranger thinking her family member had returned for some reason?

So the kidnappers came in and hung around a while to enjoy a cup of coffee?
No wonder so many people believe a family member(s) is involved. Nothing makes much sense.
Who the hell would open the door with that disguise on?
Maybe the backpack was to collect the valuables he was there to steal, rings, necklaces, jewelry, cash.... Did they say that the house was found to appear that they went through all the drawers and such looking for valuables?
The video I linked above shows the guy wearing a full backpack. After looking at the nest camera, he walks back out of the entry way and pulls up the plant.
Looks like zip ties, not enough clarity to be 100% certain.
