Legendary Team USA alpine skier Lindsey Vonn had to be airlifted from the course and underwent surgery on her left leg after crashing in her women's downhill run. It was the 41-year-old's first Olympic event since 2018 and comes just over a week after she suffered a torn ACL...

Really? How do you account for the fact that on Friday's first practice round, she had the 11th fastest time. Then on Saturday, the last practice run, she had the 3rd fastest run?
You and the other haters here have on f'n idea what you are talking about.........
Yes, there are alternates. Who do you think will race in her other events? So you are the ignorant one.
Because it doesn't work that way dummy. Spots for the individual events are filled, there are no substitutions like your football games.
And for the record, you are certainly aware that on Friday, the first day of training runs, she posted the 11th fastest time, aren't you? Then on Saturday, the last day of training runs, she posted the 3rd fastest time. All with a ruptured ACL.....
You didn't know that, did you? Of course not......
None, Vonn was only scheduled to race in the downhill.......Nice try tho...LOL!
You have no clue what the hell you're talking about.......
We will call it a draw. ๐
I could care less to be honest. You mean to tell me that there are no alternates at all? Sounds like a dumb a$$ system. What the hell are you talking about with the football game comment. You obviously know nothing about football (see, I can play your game too).
Nope, not in the Olympic alpine events.
But back on topic, what was the need to even consider an alternate, as you are suggesting?
Stay on topic
Why are they calling a screwup on the slopes, “a crash”. What did she crash into?
That girl needs to retire and coach. 41 is way too old for Olympic downhill running. I hate to see her cripple herself.
I wish FR had a thumbs up button
She was injured with a torn acl.
Yea? So what? Please explain how she was able to post the 11th fastest time on Friday's first training run, then the 3rd fastest time on Saturday's final training run?
Her crash was not caused by the ACL, it was caused at the 4th gate when her ski pole caught the gate and it pulled her backwards and off balance at the start of the jump.
The video is out there, go watch it.
You're full of crap. Just making Lindsey Vonn is scheduled to compete in the women's downhill, women's team combined slalom, and women's super-G events at the 2026 Winter Olympics
Yes, the U.S. Olympic Ski Team may have alternates, but the specific details about alternates for the 2026 Milan Cortina Games have not been widely publicized. Typically, athletes who meet qualifying criteria but do not make the main roster may serve as alternates.
Facts are a funny thing.
I know exactly what I’m talking about. A ruptured ACL isn’t a little thing. She let her hubris put her in the hospital. Her brace was a stopgap attempt to prevent further injury, and we see now that it wasn’t enough.
Seems I was somewhat wrong. She broke her leg and I don’t believe she further damaged the ACL. Mea culpa.
Dont care either way.
I don’t think most people have any idea of the drive and determination of someone who makes to the level of any professional sport, much less the NFL.
To play DE in the NFL a degree foolhardiness to put your body thru the pounding that is required of playing along the line of scrimmage at that level is insane.
When someone with that mindset makes it to the biggest game of their career with no guarantee of ever making it back to that game, unless they are going to lose the leg or die, they are going to play.
I’m sure his mindset was, tape it up, take a pain pill and go play.
