Donald Trump told reporters he will not apologize for the racist video he shared depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
The president spoke publicly for the first time since the video was released - to outrage from both Democrats and Republicans - on Air Force One Friday night and maintained he did nothing wrong.
'I looked at it. I didn’t see the whole thing. I gave it to the people, they posted it,' said Trump, noting he 'didn't see' the part where the Obamas were imposed on the bodies of apes.
'What I saw in the beginning was really strong. It was about fraudulent elections. Anytime I see that stuff and it’s credible, you put it up. I didn’t do it. This was done by someone else. It was a re-truth but that was a very strong truth,' Trump added.
Trump also said that the staffer the White House alleged posted the video will not be fired.
He was then asked if he would apologize.
'No, I didn’t make a mistake,' he said.
He also touted his relationship with the black community during his two terms as president.

We humans as well as gorillas, orangutans, and chimpanzees are all great apes (with bonobos sometimes included in among chimpanzees and sometimes broken out as a separate specie).
We humans differ among ourselves in skin color as well as in hair color. Furthermore, we have mostly lost our hair. We are sometimes referred to as hairless apes.
The other apes have hair all over their body. Furthermore, they are all pink-skinned and the various species have hair colors that generally range from brown to black, except that male gorillas have grey hair and orangutans have orange hair.
Considering hair color, Trump has sometimes been depicted as an orangutan. This depiction is considered to be good fun, not racist.
It’s like clownish comedians. If white like Charlie Chaplin or Red Skelton, it’s good fun. But, if black like Stepin Fetchit, it’s racist.
I think the rule is this: black people must always be portrayed as serious, intelligent, honest, law-abiding, etc., etc., and never in a demeaning or belittling way. But, white people can be portrayed in almost any way imaginable.
Thus, “Scotch tape” doesn’t demean Scotch people. The “Fighting Irish” doesn’t demean Irish people. And, the “Minnesota Vikings” doesn’t demean Scandinavian people. But, God forbid you have an Indian squaw on a package of butter, or a black woman on a package of pancake mix, or name a flavor of a soft drink “Chinese Cherry.”
It was probably pretty important that the Trump admin went after those who did this to him last time out of the gate. His DOJ and FBI have allowed them to run rampant for a year now.
Step on the deportation gas POTUS. It is a place that voters are behind you and what you are doing. Backing down to these people gets you this.
