It's probably best to begin by letting everyone know that this column isn't about politics. Whenever I write anything about the National Football League, my comments section is stormed by an army of conservative keyboard warriors who, in their Colin Kaepernick-filled rage, are all too eager to unload on Roger Goodell and the organization over which he presides.
Trust me, dear readers, I have plenty of bad things to say about Roger Goodell, but they're mostly about the game of football. My lament comes from a place of deep, lifelong fandom and is triggered by the fact that I don't believe that the NFL is very much about the game of football anymore.
That's kind of a dig at Goodell. We're off to a good start.

Unmentioned is the referees hogging facetime so they can mansplain each call.
At halftime, DO watch the 'All American Halftime Show' on your local conservative network, YouTube, X..
I don’t watch the Hallmark channel either.
Yes, the Super Bowl evolved into a major TV event, whether people are football fans or not. Millions who don’t watch a game all year will watch the Super Bowl.
And we’re supposed to be excited about the halftime show, with Bad Bunny, who many people have never heard of. Stay tuned, see if he panders to liberals and makes political statements.
Just saw a couple of B1’s, F15’s 18’s and 35’s in formation over the Santa Claus Mtns. They’re expected to over fly Levy’s at the National Anthem. I’ll watch that and record the rest except half time.
The NFL wants to expand the popularity of the sport globally, they don’t care about the American male audience.
If you really want to see how badly television has damaged the NFL game, just attend a game in person. There is so much dead time during the game for TV content that the game has become an awful, exhausting bore.
Even college football is bad too. I went to a Florida-Michigan game a few years ago here in Dallas, and there would regularly be ten-minute intervals where nothing was happening.
Not far at all from the truth. The NFL is rigged so that it plays out just like a soap opera.
Just for giggles, I counted the ads per play of a game from about 6 minutes into the 3rd quarter to the end. There were 48 plays and 58 advertisements. Literally, for every play the NFL plays a commercial. That’s worse than online games that show an ad for very play.
Once again, Super Bowl Sunday coincides with the last day of Arizona’s quail season. I know what I’ll be doing, and there won’t be any television involved.
Just stop watching it like I did.
College football is better anyway.
I have a vested interest: if the Seahawks win I win $200. If they lose I win $100….
Not to mention Green Gay, who's just a bunch of woke, hateful dumshitz.
It belongs in the toilet. So does the Hallmark channel. Then flush.
It stopped being a football game.
Yeah. 12-14 minutes worth of actual action.
The left ruins everything. I was never a huge fan of football. Casual at best so I’m not crushed by what it has become but I can relate. Lots of other stuff I cared about has suffered a similar fate.
I’m with you on this one.
The AAHS? Yuck. Go to the Puppy Bowl.
