“But, as you know, it is not a crime to party with Mr Epstein,” Blanche told Ingraham. “And so, as horrible as it is, it’s not a crime to email with Mr Epstein. Messages from billionaire Elon Musk asked Epstein when his wildest party would be and discussed visiting his notorious island, with the phrase “girls FTW!” included in one email.

Epstein had many parties not on the island. That is how he lured in investors — investors for his money schemes.
And, that is fine so long as coercion of the girls is not involved.
OTOHand, if underage or trafficked girls are included (like from Ukraine) then all bets are off and hangings should commence.
Read the letters or diaries of Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, John Jay, etc., and compare with the puerile, lazy, thoughtless correspondence with today’s “elites” in the Epstein emails. It’s remarkable just how far wqe have fallen as a civilization.
The truth of that matter is its not against the law to party with a despicable person as long as you are not breaking the law.
In my early 20’s my first husband and I hobnobbed with the Miami jet set. Rich people can be totally low class. I got sick of it real quick and just stopped accepting invitations.
I’m pretty much in agreement with Trump that we have a country to save from communism which is more important than Epstein.
I was thinking the same thing. Elon's "conservatism" is all just an act. He, like all of the other Silicon Valley Oligarchs (Gates, Ellison, etc) were Bill Clinton-style liberals, on board with the Left's cultural program and internationalism as long as they got their tax cuts and a wide-open H1B program.
With Trump in office, Elon decided to roll the dice and play the part of MAGA supporter with the hope of A. covering up his own sleaze and B. curry favor with the administration, with the thinking that Trump's anti-immigration stance might shift in favor of providing more east and south Asian coolies to write code in Silicon Valley and its satellite tech towns until AI makes them obsolete as well.

No need to overthink this: I think you'll agree that - as prudish / straight-laced as you are - even you might have - at least once in your life - nudged a friend in the ribs and opined, "Look at that babe walking by! You know, I wouldn't mind giving her a spin" (or something equally coarse).
What Musk allegedly wrote is no worse than that. The only difference is: He sent it in an e-mail which can now be read by millions.
Regards,
Ben Franklin wrote some pretty ribald things about, e.g., seducing widows ("and besides: They're more grateful."). Th. Jefferson engaged in relations with a female slave.
I don't see that we've (collectively) fallen that much.
Regards,
The difference is that Franklin and Jefferson made substantive positive contributions and were defined by their formidable intellects, they weren't defined by their debauchery. In contrast, Epstein and those in his social circle seemed to have no interest in anything other than their sexual conquests and other mindless hedonism.
What you describe in Jefferson and Franklin are vices - i.e. peccadilloes on otherwise noble minds and characters. Whereas for Epstein et al, mindless adolescent hedonism is their defining trait. It's like the difference between a homeless drunk laying in his own vomit in the gutter as he shouts obscenities versus a great literary figure (e.g. Faulkner or Hemingway) with a drinking problem.
Elon Musk's email seemed innocuous enough to me.
I watched the Charlie Kirk Show shortly after my comment, and they had Jay Beecher on. Jay Beecher is a British journalist who has been digging into Epstein story for 6 years.
He said that Virginia Giuffre made a lot of false claims regarding Prince Andrew and her sleeping with him, and she finally admitted that she was lying. I have never heard that before.
The press & lawyers were making millions off of the claims being made.
If those claims are accurate, which seems to be true because they are not really finding anythnng in the documents dump except for Bill Gates contracting an STD he got from a Russia woman who was not underaged.
Tey while Epstein was connected to a lie detector machine, was asked if he knew that the girls were under aged, his response of no, indicated no deception. Supposedly, these girls were recruited with money that they could not earn if they worked regular jobs. In other words, they knew what they were getting into. They were not helpless children, nor were they forced to engage in what they were doing. They did it for the money, period. Virginia Giuffre, on the promise of extra money, engaged in the recruitment process as well, he claimed.
So, was this claim against Epetein just an attempt to make lots of money by these "victims", or are they actual vctims?
This was not a short segement, it was almost the entire length of the show, so it was rather indepth.
Take it however, you choose to take it, but it certainly casts doubts as to the validity of the claims.
But it puts into focus more clearly what Trump, Patel, and Boondi were saying about the Epstein issue being fake.
Epstein was a jerk, and he hired women to attend his parties for his male guests to enjoy what they might have offered.
Sensational stories grow legs of their own when it provides strong revenuse streams for so many who then get involved in the feeding frenzy.
Also keep in mind that this was first starting to be revealed during the "Me Too" phase that was taking place then aslo. A perfect time for them to make these claims.
I retorted that their writings (or other historical revelations) often displayed a ribald (and even lecherous) side of their nature; that they likewise had debased sexual proclivities.
Besides that, I assert that montag813 is guilty of the Fallacy of Equivocation / Selection Bias by comparing Epstein & Co. to our Founding Fathers; there are many great men (and women) living today or in the recent past - renowned thinkers like Thomas Sowell - whose reputations are unsullied and/or can bear comparison with those of our Founding Fathers.
Summa summarum: 1. There have always rich, powerful, and depraved men (and women). 2. Even our modern era is not without its "Great Lights." 3. Hence, we have not "fallen."
Regards,
However, I do believe that the general level of culture has declined over the decades, especially among the ruling classes and those who produce mass entertainment. More troubling to me than issues of sexual morality is how juvenile and mindless the level of discourse has become, and how debased our mass entertainment (reflecting the former) is today.
Case in point: even half a century ago, a "blockbuster" film was something like The Godfather. Today? A Marvel Comics adaptation. So it's no wonder that Epstein and his elite friends sound like a bunch of 14 year olds when they get together.
