New York City (NYC) Mayor Zohran Mamdani cast blame on former NYC Mayor Eric Adams for the city’s $12 billion deficit budget, stating that the city is facing a “serious fiscal crisis.”
During a press conference on Wednesday, Mamdani accused Adams of underbudgeting important services that NYC residents “rely on every single day,” while “quietly leaving behind enormous gaps for the future.” Mamdani also accused former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of extracting NYC’s “resources” and using the city’s revenues to “address state level holes, while withholding from the city what it was owed.”
“There is a massive fiscal deficit in our city’s budget to the tune of at least $12 billon. We did not arrive at this place by accident. This crisis has a name, and a chief architect,” Mamdani said. “In the words of The Jackson 5, it’s as easy as ABC. This is the ‘Adams Budget Crisis.'”
Mamdani went on to explain that under what Adams described as the “best budget ever,” Adams “handed the next administration a poisoned chalice.” Mamdani accused Adams of having “systematically under-budgeted services that New Yorkers rely on every single day.”
During the press conference, a reporter pointed out that Mamdani was “describing this sort of fundamental relationship reset” between the city and the state. The reporter added that “it would take more than just” two tax increases “to achieve that,” and questioned if Mamdani was “expecting to ask for” more “in terms of long-term.”…….

If I've learned one thing in life, it is that leftists are math-impaired.
They simply have no ability to calculate.
I can understand why party leaders want endless illegal immigration from the 3rd world but it’s crazy that the average Dem voter supports it too since it only hurts their dreams of a welfare state / social safety net.
mamdani will run things into the ground while blaming everyone else along the way. if he is convincing enough, he will get reelected to run more of the city into the ground while still blaming everyone else
I expect you are correct, and he is ‘convincing’ to the ignorant.
And, everything else is DJT’s fault.
And, climate change. Of course.
Change the circumstances around & each of these guys could find something to blame on one of the others. I’m guessing they might be right in doing that, but either way it ends up being the same old mess unless someone who truly understands the problems can step in there to save that city. I’m glad every day I don’t live there. People there may insist on voting on the wrong person on the ballot even if there was a good one. Just in case if there was a good one.
The big cities were already in trouble before giving out so much to illegals when they should have been helping to get them out of the country. When you allow a country without borders, pretty soon you have no country. Apparently some have yet to learn this. Illegals are naturally going to flock to bigger cities as they must know the small places can’t support them. Also easier to hide in the big cities. A big city with a big budget doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone living there is doing well.
Looks like Mamdani is going to have to make some UNPOPULAR CHOICES. I guess governing is harder than campaigning. Oh, the Humanity!
