NFL world completely taken aback by Bill Belichick failing to make Hall of Fame: ‘WTF’

Bill Belichick won’t have “first ballot Hall of Famer” on his resume. If you’re shocked by this fact, you’re not alone.

The NFL world was baffled by the news reported by ESPN on Tuesday evening that Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach with the Patriots, was not elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on his first appearance on the ballot.

Belichick fell short of the requisite 40 votes of 50 votes from the voting committee — made up of at least one media representative from each football city and other at-large members — needed to gain entry.

No NFL team is going to hire him.

Maybe having (arguably) the greatest QB of all time can be considered a factor in one’s coaching ability?

No doubt Brady made Belichek a much better coach.

He doesn’t need to be. Joie Gibbs is an example of a HC that returned after entry to the HOF.

A horrible mush mouth cheat of a man who did a horrible job here in Cleveland. Only reason he looked like HOF material was because of his team’s tremendous quarterback that he had for all those years. Nothing more than an average small college coach.

Now they want the names of those who didn’t vote for him. They don’t come unglued for a baseball player who lacked one vote for unanimous entry into baseball hall of fame. A bunch of hypocrites.

Hardly. His defenses shut down many a prolific offense, and his game plans as DC for the Giants are in the Hall of Fame.

For example, Brady had nothing to do with shutting down the Greatest Show on Turf, or holding the 2018 Rams to 3 points - and many exceptional accomplishments in between.

He also did a very good job resurrecting the Browns to a Superbowl favorite before Modell torpedoed the last season with his move to Baltimore which leaked shortly into the season.

Darth Belichick, that cheatin’ SOB, deserves nothing but derision and contempt...along with his acolyte Tom “Anakin” Brady.
But, Hey! That’s just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

So not a fan of paying ones debt to society (or vindictive league executives)? The facts are facts…. His record speaks for itself. He owns records no one will catch. You thats from videoing practices (which teams did regularly) or deflating footballs (howd the second half of that game go vs the Colts). Ill take the word of the men who played for him, the people who played against him. You dont have to like the guy, but you have to respect the record. I feel the same way about Pearl Jam.

I’m not a Colts fan. You’ve just made an assumption because I live here.

Truthfully, I’m not that much into the NFL. I don’t have any particular allegiance to any NFL team. I’m more of a college football fan.

I stated my reasons for not respecting Belichick, and IMHO, he doesn’t belong in the HOF. As I posted before. YMMV.

It started with a guy named Bill Parcells.

The Oakland Raiders had a sign in their lockerroom that said “Cheating is Encouraged”, so Belichick isn’t the first, or last.

I don’t much care, but the guy belongs in the Hall and it will happen eventually. I think the real reason he didn’t get in on the first try is he was a complete jackass in his post-game press conferences. That always amazed me that he didn’t have the desire or ability to act like a normal human being in public. And if he had anyone around him who could advise him about how petulant he came off, he certainly didn’t listen to them. His behavior was unprofessional and those journalists have long memories. Hell, he was worse in some ways than Marshawn Lynch “I’m jus here so I won’t get fined.”

I just don’t respect the man. If someone else wants to, that’s fine. It’s an opinion. That’s all. Nothing more.

He is who he is….. pretty much like Trump…. Could he be more warm and fuzzy? Less cocky? More aware? Sure- but he was coach of a dynasty. I live in Boston. I lived through this all. He is 100% being punished by petty jealous folks who he left in his wake. His coaching is indisputably hall of fame level, this only tarnishes the NFL and the Hall, which does a pretty good job of beclowning itself already.

I think this is a problem with how they changed the eligibility. now coaches are eligible after 1 year. Which sounds great as coaches retire later later and posthumous inductions aren’t as fun. BUT prove to me Bill is retired. I mean he’s still coaching, at college, but he could come back. He was mentioned as a possible candidate (though no interviews were announced) for multiple jobs this hiring season. While he is obviously a first ballot hall of famer, if I was in the room my question would be: is he retired, is this legitimately his first ballot? And I’d probably vote no, not because he’s undeserving, I just don’t think he’s retired.

I didnt assume you were a colts fan. I assume you use that Colts game to make your case for a major conspiracy because footballs were a psi or 2 off? This was an example you used to besmirch Belicheck. It was 17-7 at halftime when the balls were “discovered”. Final score 45-7. Cmon man.
