Trump’s latest ICE move just BLINDSIDED Democrats
you-tube ^ | January 27, 2026 | Glenn Beck

Posted on 01/27/2026 3:22:13 PM PST by metmom

President Trump recently made some big moves with ICE in Minnesota that some believe was a surrender to leftist protesters. But Glenn Beck believes Trump is playing a very different game here. Glenn explains how Trump's actions may actually be a checkmate on Minnesota's leadership: either give him what he really wants, or admit their true intentions ...

Video is 15 mins long.

Maybe the commies are behind the fraud and are the ones helping the skinnies steal. Democrats in DC and in blue states seem to be very eager to go to bat for them too.

I believe Secretary Hegseth just gave them the go ahead to use Fort Snelling as their base of operations. That means no protesters can get in there. I believe the agents will live there.

That would be excellent!

Thank you for listening. Thank you for
0:02
joining us at glenbeck.com.
0:05
Um, you can still check out everything
0:07
that is at glenbeck.com, including the
0:09
behindthescenes show, which uh you get
0:12
about 50% more information in every
0:14
show. Um, because I just don’t have time
0:16
to cover it. But as we break, Jason, our
0:19
chief researcher, he goes in and he uh
0:22
talks to the insiders. It’s a really
0:23
cool community as well. Um, and uh and
0:26
kind of sweeps things up. I was just
0:28
listening to him and he was talking
0:31
about what Trump did yesterday with
0:33
Minnesota and and uh and how he felt a
0:38
little angry uh yesterday and and quite
0:40
honestly I agree cuz what I see here
0:43
happening in Minnesota is an
0:45
insurrection. Clearly it’s an
0:46
insurrection. I mean and we’ve got the
0:48
paperwork. We have the goods on it. Um
0:51
and I want those people arrested. I want
0:54
them tried. And if they’re found guilty,
0:56
I want them in jail. And but I think
0:58
Trump does, too. He’s not stupid. He’s
1:01
not stupid.
1:04
When I first saw this story yesterday,
1:06
what he was doing, I thought, is he
1:07
waving the white flag? What is he doing?
1:09
What is he doing? Is this all about the
1:10
election and getting reelected and he’s
1:12
got to make nicey nice? And I don’t
1:14
think it is. It is. If you are act if
1:17
you are reacting emotionally and I want
1:19
to say this I could be wrong on this so
1:22
I don’t mean to belittle you or have you
1:25
think that I’m smarter than you because
1:27
I I can guarantee you I’m not in almost
1:30
all but Al Gore’s case. Um I’m not
1:34
smarter than you. uh I just look at
1:36
things differently and I could be wrong,
1:38
but I’ll give you a a lens to see this
1:41
through and then a chart on how we’re
1:44
going to know whether it is a red is a
1:48
white flag or not. Okay? And I don’t
1:50
think it is a white flag. If you’re
1:52
looking at this through the lens of
1:54
traditional
1:56
uh political or cable news, you’re going
1:58
to look at this and say this is a
2:00
retreat. However, if you look at it as a
2:03
counterinsurgency,
2:04
if you look at it through that lens of
2:07
counterinsurgency, federalism and an
2:10
optics war lens, then it’s different.
2:15
Okay.
2:17
Um,
2:18
let me walk you through this because
2:21
what we’re seeing Trump shift the
2:25
battlefield, not abandon it. And let me
2:28
take you through this cleanly and
2:30
tactically here. First, what would a
2:34
surrender or a blink actually look like?
2:37
If Trump was blinking, this is what
2:40
would happen. He would end the
2:41
enforcement nationwide. He would call
2:43
off ICE operations. Uh he would publicly
2:47
repudiate Homeman or Miller. He would
2:50
emit wrongdoing or illegality. and he
2:54
would accept the Gustapo snatching
2:56
people off the streets narrative. None
2:58
of that happened.
3:00
Instead,
3:01
now think of him in art of the deal. He
3:05
narrowed the enforcement criteria.
3:09
Political pressure is rerouted, optics
3:12
cooled, legal authority preserved,
3:16
responsibility transferred back to the
3:18
states. This is not a surrender. I
3:21
believe this is a reframing of the fight
3:24
and it’s really smart. If this is what
3:27
it is, it’s really smart. The real sub
3:30
the strategic objective here that I
3:32
think most people are going to miss is
3:35
you know what I what I just said uh you
3:38
know he would um
3:40
uh he narrowed the enforcement criteria.
3:46
Let me ask you what was his criteria?
3:48
Because I had a problem with it when he
3:50
said it months ago. What was the
3:54
enforcement criteria?
3:56
Was it to go scoop up every illegal on
3:58
the streets?
4:01
Was it Was it to send everybody who came
4:02
here to send them home? Is that what ICE
4:05
was doing? Cuz it wasn’t. Because I
4:08
remember when he said it, I’m like,
4:09
what? We should be sending everybody
4:11
that was here home. And he said, no, no,
4:14
no.
4:16
The goal here is to get the really bad
4:20
criminals off the streets. That’s what
4:22
he wanted.
4:24
So, the goal was never ICE agents
4:27
everywhere all the time. The goal was
4:30
this. Force blue state leadership to
4:33
choose publicly and unmistakably between
4:37
protecting violent criminals or
4:39
cooperating with law federal law
4:41
enforcement. Okay, that’s what he’s been
4:43
saying the whole thing. How are you
4:45
people defending this? These are rapists
4:46
in your community. So what Trump has
4:49
just done is he has separated into three
4:53
groups. One, the violent criminal uh
4:57
illegals. Easily moral. Everybody’s for
5:00
that. Okay. Two, the local state
5:03
officials who shield them. There’s
5:05
another group. And three, the protest
5:09
movements trying to provoke a legitimacy
5:11
crisis. So, he’s now broken those three
5:13
up.
5:15
Minnesota was sliding towards a designed
5:19
confrontation. Street uh chaos, viral
5:22
clips, allegations of federal overreach.
5:25
The Senate Dems were threatening a
5:27
shutdown. The media was building an
5:30
authoritarian. We were headed towards
5:32
everything that there’s no way out.
5:34
Okay? And that environment only benefits
5:38
one side and it isn’t the Trump side.
5:41
It’s not our side. It The only thing he
5:44
could have done was escalate. And do you
5:47
think that’s what they
5:50
didn’t want?
5:52
That’s exactly what they wanted. So he
5:55
changed the terrain.
5:59
He also, and this is a this is telling
6:02
to me, he also went and relieved the US
6:05
Border Patrol commander, uh, Gregory
6:07
Bavino.
6:10
So, this was part of it that really
6:12
bothered me, okay? Because it’s the
6:14
hardest part emotionally. Here’s a guy
6:16
who was very, very clear on things, but
6:17
it is the clearest tactically.
6:20
Bino was a guy who was saying, I mean,
6:23
he even said something that was
6:24
absolutely wrong this weekend. You don’t
6:25
have a right to carry a gun at a
6:27
protest. No, you don’t have a right to
6:29
interfere with police. Once you engage
6:31
with police and you’re carrying a gun,
6:33
then that’s a different story. But he
6:36
said a lot of things. He was defending
6:37
some things that I thought were a little
6:39
indefensible, but uh but he was he was a
6:42
lightning rod. He was a walking
6:44
headline. Um he was a pretext for the
6:47
Senate Democrats. I mean, he was a
6:49
symbol. Whether it was fair or not
6:52
doesn’t matter. Perception is reality.
6:55
He was rogue federal officer escalating
6:58
online while operating in a blue city.
7:00
That’s poison if you’re in an optics
7:03
war. And every war must worry about
7:07
optics. If you’re going to win, you have
7:10
to worry about optics. So what does what
7:12
does Trump do? He rotates that guy out.
7:16
Well, now the Senate shutdown talks that
7:18
weakens that they’re not how are you
7:20
going to shut down? He’s he’s giving,
7:22
right? The media narratives loses the
7:25
villain. Uh the Department of Homeland
7:28
Security regains message discipline and
7:30
the fight moves from personality back to
7:33
policy. This is classic Trump.
7:37
What does Trump say in Art of the Deal?
7:40
And we’ve seen him do it over and over
7:42
and over again. Never die on someone
7:45
else’s hill if it isn’t the hill you
7:49
chose. Don’t die on a hill they’re cho
7:52
choosing. Only die on the hill you
7:53
choose.
7:55
So when he talks to Wallace and Fry, I
7:59
don’t think this is capitulation.
8:02
I think these were traps.
8:04
Let me read the three-point plan again
8:07
carefully. Okay. What he didn’t ask for,
8:10
he didn’t ask for uh sanctuary repeal.
8:14
He didn’t ask for universal uh
8:17
cooperation.
8:18
Um and he didn’t ask for mass raids.
8:22
He asked for one narrow morally
8:25
defensible thing. Okay? turn over the
8:29
illegal immigrants already in prison and
8:33
in jail for rape and murder and
8:35
everything else. That’s it. Which is
8:37
what he said he wanted in the first
8:39
place. Okay. I think this whole push
8:43
again has been overturn window. He
8:45
wanted the ones who were on the streets
8:47
raping. That’s who they were arresting.
8:49
Now he’s just said, “Give me the ones
8:50
you already have in prison.” Okay. This
8:53
does two things. It isolates the
8:55
extremists
8:57
because if Wals and Fry refuse that,
9:00
well, now wait, excuse me. I I I
9:07
said you do it. I’m not asking for
9:10
everybody, you know, all the Somali that
9:12
live on the street. I’m asking for the
9:13
rapists and the traffickers and the
9:15
violent offenders, the ones that you
9:17
have already arrested. Why are you
9:20
defending them now? They have to go on
9:22
record. no ambiguity. That takes all of
9:26
the political weight off of them and
9:30
shifts it back to Trump. It shifts
9:32
accountability. Now truth, now Trump can
9:35
actually truthfully say, “Look, I
9:37
offered a focused, humane, criminal only
9:40
solution and they’re still standing in
9:42
the way.” That’s devastating in court.
9:45
That’s devastating in Congress. That is
9:47
devastating in public opinion.
9:50
when
9:52
next agents are leaving Minneapolis.
9:55
What does that mean? When I read that,
9:56
I’m like, what?
10:00
This line is doing enormous
10:03
psychological work for the left.
10:06
Or is it? Because what’s likely
10:09
happening is metro uh surges are scaling
10:13
down. The overt presence is reduced.
10:17
The intelligence warrants and targeting
10:19
is continuing, but cooperation is
10:22
demanded through C custody and transfers
10:24
instead of street ops. Get those guys
10:27
first. In other words, less spectacle,
10:30
same authority, cleaner lanes. You know,
10:32
I’ve been saying for the last few days,
10:34
Trump wants this to be boring. He wants
10:37
this to be boring. This should not be a
10:39
daily spectacle. This should be boring.
10:41
We’re going and getting the good guys,
10:43
you know, I’m sorry, we’re going to get
10:44
the bad guys and the good guys are
10:46
winning. But that’s not what’s happening
10:48
now. Trump does not need ICE agents
10:51
clashing clashing with protesters on
10:54
camera to port uh criminals. Have you
10:56
been watching this at all and thought
10:58
what is the rest of the world seeing
10:59
this through their eyes through the BBC
11:01
and everybody else? You know how this is
11:03
making America look? We look like Iran
11:07
because of the way it’s being spun
11:08
around the rest of the world. And I’m
11:10
not saying that’s true, but optics
11:12
matter.
11:15
He needs paper trails, custody chains,
11:18
and legal clarity.
11:21
Now, he pulls one guy out and he says,
11:24
“We’re sending in somebody else that can
11:26
work with you.” And who does he send?
11:28
This is the real tell.
11:30
Tom Holman.
11:33
If this was a retreat or a white flag,
11:36
Homeman would not be the guy who is
11:38
being sent in. Okay? Instead, Homeman is
11:42
sent in. He’s the face. He’s the
11:44
negotiator. He’s the enforcer. After all
11:47
the political dust settles, Homeman is
11:50
not a cupcake. I don’t know if you’ve
11:53
noticed that. Okay, that should tell you
11:56
every that to me is a signal to you who
11:59
are like, I think he just I think he
12:01
just surrendered. No, he sent in Tom
12:03
Holman.
12:05
That’s like sending into Iran, you know
12:08
what? We’re going to negotiate and we’re
12:09
sending raisin cane.
12:14
Homeman’s role is just really simple.
12:16
You don’t have to like us. Just hand
12:17
over the criminals. I’m just here to get
12:19
the criminals you already have. Just
12:20
hand them over. And if Minnesota
12:22
complies, Trump wins quietly. If
12:25
Minnesota refuses, Trump wins loudly.
12:28
That’s not blinking. That’s checkmate
12:30
positioning.
12:32
And here’s a deeper play.
12:35
They’re denying the left a legitimacy
12:37
crisis. The left wants and needs images
12:40
of federal agents versus crowds of
12:42
civilians. Okay? They need cla claims of
12:45
unconstitutional mass arrests. They’re
12:48
not happening. You know, it’s not
12:49
happening. But does the world know that?
12:51
Does America need that? The left needs a
12:54
moral panic, a shutdown, showdown,
12:58
international condemnation narratives.
13:01
Trump once again boring enforcement,
13:06
narrow targets, governors on the hook,
13:09
courts on his side, public exhaustion
13:12
with the activists, not with him and the
13:15
law enforcement side.
13:19
So,
13:22
so he did what they hate most. I think
13:26
he deescalated without conceding any
13:29
authority.
13:32
So what is this moment? Actually
13:35
I feared and I said this yesterday
13:37
before this was announced. I fear you
13:39
know you have to go after them otherwise
13:41
if you leave you’re you’re Reagan in
13:43
Beirut and that’s really bad.
13:47
This is not Reagan and Beirut. This is
13:49
Grant pausing before the next push,
13:52
letting the other side step forward and
13:54
expose itself. Trump did not blink. He
13:58
lowered the noise. He tightened the
14:00
rules. He moved the burden. He preserved
14:03
legitimacy. He forced his opponents
14:07
to make their own choices loudly and
14:10
publicly on center stage. And now
14:13
Minnesota’s leaders are standing alone
14:15
saying
14:17
will not help remove criminals.
14:21
I’ve been looking for things that are
14:23
going to break spells because honestly I
14:25
think it’s a spell. I do. You know, you
14:28
can look at it in the old, you know, the
14:30
old way or you can look at it just as
14:32
words and media are so powerful. It’s
14:34
like casting a spell. But how do you
14:37
break the spell of reasonable people who
14:39
don’t hate America? They don’t want, you
14:42
know, they don’t look at America as
14:44
turtle island. They they don’t want to
14:46
destroy everything. How how do you look
14:49
at how do you break that spell and say,
14:51
“Look what you’re doing. This is it.
14:54
This is it.” I think could be wrong.

Here is a Grok summary of the transcript you posted (I told Grok no more than 200 words):

In this segment from Glenn Beck's show, he analyzes recent developments in Minnesota's immigration enforcement under President Trump, framing what some view as a retreat as a strategic masterstroke in a counterinsurgency and optics battle.

Beck argues that Trump's actions—narrowing enforcement focus to violent criminal illegal immigrants already in state custody, relieving Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino (a lightning rod for criticism), scaling back visible ICE street operations, and sending in border czar Tom Homan as negotiator/enforcer—are not surrender but a reframing of the fight.

He contrasts this with true capitulation (e.g., ending all enforcement, repudiating aides, or accepting overreach narratives), which didn't occur. Instead, Trump shifts responsibility to Minnesota leaders (like Gov. Tim Walz and officials), forcing them to publicly choose: hand over jailed rapists/murderers or defend shielding violent criminals.

This de-escalates spectacle (avoiding viral clashes that fuel legitimacy crises and media narratives of authoritarianism), preserves federal authority, cools optics, and isolates extremists. Compliance yields quiet wins; refusal exposes opponents publicly, strengthening Trump's position legally, politically, and in public opinion.

Beck sees it as Trump making the fight "boring" and focused, not chaotic—classic Art of the Deal tactics: don't die on others' hills, tighten rules, and force adversaries into unfavorable choices.
