Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s new plan to cozy up to Beijing betrays his calls to preserve the “international order” he says is under threat from Donald Trump, and Canada’s economic dependence on the United States may cause his plan to backfire.
In a speech to the global elite at Switzerland’s Davos resort town this week, Carney warned attendees that the “rules-based order” established by the United States and its allies in the wake of the Second World War is fraying amid the reemergence of great power conflict–principally the rivalry between China and America.
“Every day we’re reminded that we live in an era of great-power rivalry,” Carney said. “That the rules-based order is fading. That the strong can do what they can, and the weak must suffer what they must.”
Canada's "new strategic partnership"
But, he called on Canada and its European allies to band together to preserve that order, in the face of challenges from the U.S. He warned, “The middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.”
Carney’s remarks came on the heels of his trip to China last week when the prime minister negotiated a new “strategic partnership” with the Communist regime in Beijing, promising to expand trade and mutual investment.
The Liberal Canadian politician made no secret of his purpose. The new deal, which represented Canada "recalibrating" its relationship with China, would set up the country for the “new world order,” one in which the United States’ ally would try to distance itself from its southern neighbor.
When Carney left Beijing, the new “strategic partnership" committed China and Canada to increase trade and investments as well as closer collaboration on the very “global governance” that Carney says President Trump has abandoned. The two countries also promised close cooperation on law enforcement — focusing on drug trafficking and cybercrime — and to increase cultural exchanges. ....SNIP

Exactly what everyone expected from Carney.
Could?
...not for Carney though, he’s making bank selling out.
These leftist scumbags keep endangering their security and ours while they pompously lecture us about the “alliance”.
Meanwhile they sell out to Russia, China and the Middle East at every opportunity. And they are stupid.
Can America get a two-for-one sale on border fencing?
Carney has been in the pocket of the Chinese Communist Party for a very long time and loves them just like Trudeau does
Sure sounds like he's putting Canaduh on it's knees to be subservient to china
The boarder between USA and Canada is over 5,500 miles. Conversely the boarder between USA and Mexico is about 2,000 miles. A wall isn’t feasible, much better to have Canada on our side instead of our enemies.
I am pretty sure that China was NOT part of any “Rules Based Order” following WWII. If it were, it most certainly would not be Red China, which did not exist yet, but The Republic of China (Taiwan/Formosa).
So we'll get a new trade deal but Canada was not going to get what they got previously.
We assumed that Canada would have opened up their market but they never did that.
Canada mainly protects dairy, poultry, and eggs (supply management), cultural industries (film, TV, publishing), telecommunications, banking and financial services, and to a lesser extent steel, aluminum, and autos via tariffs and trade rules, limiting American competition in these sectors.
Trump’s complaint: Canada preaches free trade but still shields a few politically sensitive sectors (especially dairy and culture), which he points to as unfair protectionism despite USMCA.
So in raw numbers, the “visible trade surplus” Canada runs with the U.S. is on the order of about $90–100 billion per year.
It may take China 50 years but they will eventually annex Taiwan. China is patient so they are willing to wait until the time is right.
A hard rain is gonna fall for you Carney, as the saying goes.
As Canada’s alliance with China turns more military-related with Chinese bases popping up just across the border, I wonder if the Zeepers would be bothered if we did something about it.
Canada in some ways is like a bananna republic. Its a relatively small country with basically one party rule. And the one party is corrupt and can be easily bought. It also hates the United States. So why wouldn’t the Liberal politicians take suitcases full of cash from China and set policy accordingly? They were doing it before Carney took over; it was an issue in the last campaign but didn’t get traction. This is one reason why Trump’s “trolling” of Canada during the last election was so frustrating. It served no useful purpose other than Trump indulging himself and it gave the Liberals traction to come back and beat the Conservatives. Now Carney is setting a policy of finding new allies to distance Canada from the US, and Trump feeds into it.
Trump's trolling of Canada is so we'll renegotiate the USMCA. If the Canadians are still pissed off at us, they can still trade with us but they'll have to pay tariffs.
They want to buy EVs from China just so they can sell some canola oil.
Canada could really use a better government
I’m wondering if Canada will be bold enough to set trade restrictions and tariffs on Chinese goods like Canada has done on American goods for decades.
Has carney ever looked at a map or checked out the trade agreement between the USA and the canucks that will be re-negotiated in 2026.
This stupid little cuck should go back to the "viewing chair" and watch from behind the 2-way mirror, because he cannot play.
XI is arresting and killing generals and soldiers right now.
Canada wants to b buddies with paranoid dictator?
Does anyone report this news?
Canada will be dealt with harshly from Trump.
Screw the liberals in Snow Mexico.
