A Border Patrol agent shot a 37-year-old American citizen dead in Minneapolis in a killing caught on camera.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told the Daily Mail that the victim was armed with two magazines, and that the gun has since been recovered by federal authorities.
The shooting occurred during what appeared to be a struggle involving multiple agents just after 9am Saturday morning near Glam Doll Donuts at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue.
Video shows agents wrestling the man to the ground before one federal agent fires multiple shots into his chest, after which the agents scatter.
This marks the third shooting in recent weeks involving federal agents in Minneapolis - coming after an ICE officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good on January 7 and another federal agent wounded a man about a week later.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said the person shot is believed to be a 37-year-old white US citizen who lived in the city. The Minnesota Star Tribune identified him as Alex Jeffrey Pretti.
During the news conference, O'Hara said the man's only contact with police, to their knowledge, was related to parking tickets.
The chief said officials have identified the man - who is believed to have had a gun permit - though his name has not yet been released. Minnesota law allows permit holders to openly carry handguns in public without concealing them.
DHS shared a photo of the firearm which was seen lying on the passenger seat of a car.
Minneapolis city officials have since addressed the emerging news on X, stating they 'are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area.'
'We are working to confirm additional details,' the department's post read. 'We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area.'

The guy was carrying a gun to a riot
He acted aggressively to an LEO and possibly assaulted the guy in close quarters
He began fighting with officers who tried to defend themselves while carrying a loaded pistol
He could have de escalated the situation and cooperated with LEOs at any time but he became enraged and fought multiple officers
Did he deserve to die ? No
Did he have to die ? No
Was the officer justified shooting him ? Absolutely
Could he have walked away ? Yup
More of this is going to happen

I watched the video several times that’s not what I saw. The guy was armed and interfering in an ICE operation. P!us had no ID on him. He was there to agitate and cause trouble. He got trouble.
Alex Pretti’s own father said he warned him not to go out and engage with ICE. The guy was itching to get it on.
Any civilian carrying 60+ rounds on the street is a paranoid idiot. CCW is to help you and your family get safely away. You are not a cop or a soldier. Grow up!
All he did was film, and step between ICE guys who were assaulting a woman and their victim. He only acted defensively, of himself and the woman.
His weapon is irrelevant, since, a) he was carrying legally, and B) he never touched it, much less drew it, and C) he had been disarmed by an ICE guy before the first of many rounds ever entered his body.
Nothing he did was a capital offense, and nothing grants ICE agents legitimate authority to be judge, jury and executioners anyhow.
You got that right, Tommy. I’m sick of these click bait headlines that state, “Man walking down the street shot dead by the police!” They will not say or say it at the end of an article that few people read. “He was carrying a .357 Magnum pistol and threatening the police officer.
You keep leaving out the part about him moving over to physically stop the officer as the officer is engaged with a rioter.
It appears he started assaulting the officer, which led to him getting sprayed.
When your own family tells you not to do anything crazy but you do it anyway well......
ICE has a habit, and a history, of assaulting women. In fact, that is exactly what they were doing today until Alex Pretti, an innocent bystander who was only filming, chose to step between them and their chosen prey - a brave and noble action which, sadly, cost him his life.

The guy was disobeying orders from Federal agents. He reached for his holster (not realizing he’d already been disarmed) and grabbed one of his magazines.
Now, why would such a ‘brave and noble’ POS even be carrying during one of his peaceful protests?
