I Feel the Earth Moving Under Our Feet
American Thinker ^ | 18 Jan, 2026 | Clarice Feldman

Events in Europe, the Middle East, and here are moving so quickly, it seems that decades of deceit, corruption, and just plain stupidity are nearing their end sooner than we could have imagined. Here’s a sample of the tremors this week which promise to undo the near past.

Iran

Credible reports indicate 23,000 civilians have been murdered by the mullahs’ forces, and videos (again made public due to the extraordinary efforts of Elon Musk’s teams to work around the mullah's blackouts) reveal incredible brutality. Corpses with catheters and heart monitors still attached support accounts of persons being snatched from hospitals and left to die of untreated bullet wounds. A major bazaar was set on fire and those who sought escape from the flames were machine-gunned.

Khalid Umar reflects on the protest culture’s silence.

No “Free Iran.”

No marches.

No slogans.

The absence is not accidental. It is revealing.

SELECTIVE MORALITY, PERFECTED

The modern protest industry is not driven by universal ethics. It is driven by alignment. Iran does not fit the approved script of oppression -- because condemning Tehran would mean indicting the very ideological ecosystem that has been protected, rationalised, and indirectly funded for decades.

Iran is not an inconvenience.

Iran is the source.

Only the U.S. and Israel have come to the aid of the suffering Iranians, he notes, and explains in detail why “there are no emergency UN sessions, no campus occupations, no celebrity tears.” It is, he argues, because Islam is killing Muslims, and neither Islamophobia nor colonialism, nor the Jews, nor, indeed, any outside force can be blamed.

THE UMMAH IN COGNITIVE SHOCK

Sunni and Shia alike stand frozen.

Voiceless & Paralysed.

There is no script for this moment. No victim card to play. No external enemy to blame. Iran has ripped the mask off political

Iran has ripped the mask off political Islam from the inside and the Ummah does not know how to respond. Soulless men walking. Living ghosts.

Wow. Great article. I am betting you will never see Joe and his blowup doll discuss this!

I’m pretty sure it’s mostly been Mossad and the CIA disrupting Iran from within.

Problem > reaction > solution.

I too grow weary of fighting. However, I then realize I will have to explain to someone way above my paygrade why I surrendered to evil. Then I have a cup of coffee, doing a little deep breathing in through the nose, out through the mouth. Crack the knuckles and start anew. Please don’t give up. The horse is out of the barn and the cocaine is all over the kids, but we can’t stop. Ever!

I am betting you will never see Joe and his blowup doll discuss this!

They will, as soon as they figure out and coordinate the narrative to blame Trump.

Something like "Trump falsely led Iranian MAGAts to believe the USA would illegally invade Iran! He was toying with them all along because Orangeman bad, TACO, and no Kings!!!!"

What an excellent article. Thanks, as always, for posting it.

I can see that you appreciate American Thinker as much as I do...what do you think of their new website format?

I love it. The old one was buggy, filled even more with noisy stuff that got in the way of the content, and apparently was decrepit under the HTML hood and needed to be re-written.

Good for them. Clarice Feldman is a real gem, though I must admit, having not known anyone personally in my life named Clarice, every single time I see her name above an article, this flashes into my mind:

I’m beginning to think there are no protesters because no one is paying for them. I’d bet the anti-ICE protesters are mostly paid, with some true-believer marxists leading them.

Rush used to comment occasionally on American Thinker articles. I post from that site in memory of Rush. I am still getting used to the new site format. The old one needed to be replaced, I agree.

Having carefully watched lots of videos from all over the country, I can testify that there are several different types of people in the “protest”

The largest group are there because they want to make a difference. Their activity is shouting, carrying signs and above all taking pictures. Without a doubt, the overwhelming majority of the protesters are just taking video.

The videos are in fact selfies that pretend to be doing something but are in fact proof that I was there.

The second group are the professionals who are likely paid to be there. They are invariably dressed in black, masked, gas masked, very vocal and always pushing the line as close to the breaking point as possible. There is almost always one or two supervisors present who give direction and sometimes actually initiate a retreat.

A subgroup sometimes present are those who are on the front line wearing the bright green hats or vests or scarves. They are said to be the legal observers. They are in fact professional protesters too.

I must indicate that among the nonpros are a zealot minority that push the protest beyond the limits set by ICE. Tey are very often women who have been labeled as Karens. They demonstrate and yell about being thrown to the ground while resisting. They claim immunity from being thrown on the ground because they are women.

In Minneapolis, there is now a very large group of camera carrying photojournalists. It seems that they hog the line preventing the others with cell phones from getting the best photo vantage. They are quite persistent and are constantly forced to back off by the ICE cops protecting those ICE cops involved with subduing the terrorist thrashing about on the snow resisting arrest
