HELP How to get Vizio smart tv from French to English

Posted on 01/15/2026 6:26:56 AM PST by bgill

System button shows nothing recognizable to language. The chart on System is (excuse spelling): Lumineux Paaire D' Eciuteeus Sous-Titres Aarros Differe (this looks to be 30 minute timers) Jeux Accessibilite Tous Les Parameters Aider Clock

I was originally hunting how to update software so when watching a tv show it would automatically air the next episode.

Please and thank you for help.

I’ve looked at each of the menu buttons at the gear/System and see nothing but what I’ve posted so which one is “language”?

To: Tell It Right

“Every time we fly to Canada and the stewardess playback tells us to buckle-up, etc in English, then the same thing in French, I always ask my wife to learn how talk dirty to me in French.”

Back in my dating years I did that with a chick that spoke Spanish. I do not speak Spanish. She could have been reading the directions off of a shampoo bottle and I wouldn’t have known any difference.

Google Lens is the greatest thing ever. As a QA engineer there’s nothing quite like testing localization to prove you don’t your application as well as you think you do. “What button is that?!” Before Lens I would generally setup 2 machine, one in English and one in the language I was testing, work them in parallel (”oh that’s the route to other user button”). Now, Lens.

According to Lens Tous Les Parameters is All the Settings (which makes sense), so down that option is probably screen language.

Hold on Tight! (Thanks, Google).

My high school French almost came back.

Almost.

Grok...

To change the language on your Vizio Smart TV from French to English, follow these steps. The menu is currently in French, so French terms are included to help navigate.

  1. Press the Menu button on your Vizio remote (usually a gear icon).
  2. Select Paramètres (Settings – look for the gear/cog icon).
  3. Select Système (System).
  4. Select Langue or Langue du menu (Language/Menu Language).
  5. Highlight English in the list and press OK.
The menu should switch to English immediately. If prompted, select Oui (Yes).

If your menu layout varies slightly (common on different SmartCast models), look for gear icons and the option currently showing "Français".

For video walkthroughs, search YouTube for "Vizio TV change language to English".

Pourquoi me réveiller

Ô souffle du printemps?

Pourquoi me réveiller?

Sur mon front je sens tes caresses

Et pourtant bien proche est le temps

Des orages et des tristesses!

Pourquoi me réveiller

Ô souffle du printemps?

Preferably sung by Luciano Pavarotti.

Very nice response. It actually answers the question.

It is distressing how many posts on this thread are pointless slop.

Well, I have to admit that I cut and pasted it from Perplexity. It is a pretty handy widget.

Drop your rifle and raise your hands over your head.

Oh, wait. That changes it to German. Sorry, no help here.

The Russian version has a loud beeping noise and tells you to turn off the TV so it won't catch fire.

If the TV originally came with English then look for the button combo that just resets the TV to factory setting.

Method 3: Factory Reset (Without Remote)
For when the remote isn’t working or the TV is frozen.

With the TV on, press and hold the Input and Volume Down buttons on the TV itself (not the remote) for about 15 seconds.

A menu will appear; release the buttons and follow on-screen prompts, potentially holding Input for another 10 seconds to confirm the reset.

If you have a smart phone or tablet download Google Translate and it will translate in live time with the camera. Fantastic app.
