The Streisand effect continues to be real, as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's AI comments go viral.
A couple of days ago, Nadella penned a short note on his hopes for artificial intelligence going into 2026. As you know, Microsoft is very much "all in" on AI, with Azure providing a significant chunk of the backbone for OpenAI's ChatGPT. Microsoft has been baking its ChatGPT-powered Copilot app into virtually every product it has, whether you like it or not. The brute force by which Microsoft is introducing these products has led to an unrelenting backlash on social media, and Nadella's latest comments reignited the commentary in a big way.
In the piece, Nadella said that he hoped society would "move on" from questions of "slop" for AI — emphasizing that for the technology to gain acceptance, it needs to move beyond spectacle.
Indeed, the vast majority of AI usage in the mainstream consciousness right now revolves around misinformation, dumb memes, and at worse, illegal abuse. xAI's Grok is currently being investigated by various authorities for allowing sexualized AI images of children, and OpenAI's ChatGPT is being sued for potentially causing a dreadful murder-suicide. But hey, at least we can generate cat memes more quickly than we could previously.
As such, it certainly doesn't seem like society at large is ready to accept AI as Microsoft's Nadella hopes. "Microslop" began trending on X yesterday, in the wake of our coverage on the topic.

First thing I do after every patch is ensure ALL the AI and copilot stuff is removed / reg edited off.
I want to use Linux but still just not supported well enough.
Seems like someone is working on discrediting Grok but not so much the others. I wonder why?
Microsoft’s AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman and Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella , hmmm do you see a pattern
It’s not just microsoft. My tv, phone, etc are always trying to foist their alexis, gemini co-pilot crap on me. On commercials young people can’t wipe their noses without asking AI if it’s a good idea, as if society needs to be infantilized even more. Which I think reveals the intentions behind this push.
Micoroft office became unusable - it just hung up - until I figured out how to disable copilot. Basically it’s a denial of service virus.
Hopefully gaming companies will start making their games for Linux , it’s that anti-cheat crap that stops Linux from running the games
Switch to Open Office all the same functions and none of the invasive stupid from MS. I’ve beenusing it for 20 years.
Or LibreOffice
My experience was horrible. Win lows 11 put so much bloat that the computer became unusable. And not only did copilot install by default it has extra versions of it running in the back ground with MS Office. It was a huge resource hog and it is a beast of an engineering workstation.
I would rather have clippy.
I find the LibreOffice fork of that software superior in support and capabilities. For reference, I have been using it since it was called StarOffice, and was 'owned' by Sun Microsystems.
Every AI video or text should be clearly labeled as AI.
When your Windows machine starts running like molasses you know that Microsoft is at it again.
