The Trump administration paused $10 billion of child care funds to California amid widespread fraud claims — and demanded Gov. Gavin Newsom send the feds a list of vendors, contractors and individuals getting tax money.
The Department of Health and Human Services will put the brakes on taxpayer funding to the Golden State’s Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) program, the Administration for Children and Families said in a series of letters to Newsom dated Tuesday.
The CCDF and SSBG letters demanded California turn over “verified attendance documentation” for subsidized child care services that include logs of hours and payment info from providers.
The TANF letter asked for recipients’ names, addresses, social security numbers and dates of birth.
The letters — signed by ACS Assistant Secretary Alex J. Adams — said the administration is concerned about “the potential of potential and systemic fraud.”
“These concerns have been heightened by recent federal prosecutions and additional allegations that substantial portions of federal resources were fraudulently diverted away from the American families they were intended to assist,” Adams wrote.

$10B is about 10% of the HHS budget, just for CA childcare. Between CA and MN and other fraud states, we should be able to reduce HHS by 50% this year.

It is so nice to have an adult in the White House who is paying attention.
Newsom and his criminal cronies will just raise individual taxes to make up for the loss of federal money and to continue to pay for his illegal immigrant freeloader voters. Newsom has to keep these programs in operation so they can be looted by the top state Democrat criminals.
